That little gadget that she’s trying to insert into the bottle is called a “silent butler”. It allowed the cork to be removed, then reinserted without the lord of the manor realizing anyone had been in his wine. The movement is like a seesaw, one side, then the other. It’s an amazing little device.

Just want to say: 1) Thank you for putting a smile of my face! You guys have never been afraid to be silly on camera and it's so fun to laugh along with you guys during an episode. Though on that note, I've had to avert my eyes a few times (cough, Sia cover, cough) and end up cringing over a few innuendoes BUT over all, I am sad when the 10-15 min video is over and I have to get back to my life, haha. 2) Thank you for trying so hard to connect with your audience. Both in the comments and on camera, you guys are so kind to your viewers, which is quite unique on YT. Of course you point out the trolls occasionally (please bring back comment of the week? ;)) but you also kindly address things such as in this video when you explained why you haven't been in the kitchen as much lately. Thanks for that, it makes us feel loved and noticed as a community. 3) cheers to you all and keep up the good work but don't work too hard! See you Sunday!

I know I'm like 4 years late on this, but the reason the Pasta and More lid wasn't working is because you're supposed to slide the non-straining half of the lid onto the bowl then close the other side after it's on. It's not a pop-on lid. And, yes, you could use a normal bowl to microwave pasta, but this adds consistency in measuring both the pasta and the water and has a bunch of steaming options as well. Also, how many freaking bowls hold full-length spaghetti? Throw in the fact that pasta cooking is just one function (there are actually a ton of recipes in that booklet she was reading), and it's pretty solidly worth the $15 or whatever it is these days.

So, the stainless steel "bar of soap" probably actually works if you run your hands under cold water while using it. I read years ago that if you want to remove the smell of garlic from your hands, grab something stainless and rub your hands on it under running water. I've always used my chef's knife with great success. This seems a much safer alternative.

FYI: you can cook pasta in a bowl in the microwave, no dumb steamer required. It doesn't always have perfect texture, but it totally got me through life in the dorms. About 6-7 minutes on average, sometimes more or less depending on your pasta and the starting temp of the water. PROTIP: use a boiling water tap, then it only takes a couple minutes in the microwave. Not too shabby.

Okay, I am late to the party but I am a proselytizer for the two-bladed wine bottle opener. First, I am a wine drinker of many years. I have used both horrible (auger) corkscrews and proper (helix) corkscrews. There is no question that a helix is the easiest and fastest way to open a general bottle of wine. But there is one place where the two-blade opener works better. When the cork is older, or dry, and crumbly. By gently wiggling the blades down the sides of the cork until fully inserted, then slowly twisting as you pull up, you can salvage what would otherwise be a bottle needing filtering. I actually keep one of these in my car when I travel. I have saved myself and more than one server by having this on hand. I give them as gifts but I do include at least one bottle of “training” with each one given. Now off my soapbox and back to my save-place.
