Originally intended for the legendary FIA Group B and the First of the Ferrari Five, the 288 GTO was also the first road going car to breach the 300kph top speed barrier way back in 1984. It was somewhat overshadowed by the popular Testarossa and the iconic F40, but I feel like this is a legend that belongs in every Ferrari enthusiast's collection. While KK-Scale and GT-Spirit provide more accurate exterior detailed models, there's just something about a fully opening Ferrari casting that doesn't cost exorbitant amounts like the Hot Wheels and Kyoshos have climbed to. And in this video, I will show you how much better this vintage Bburago model looks, when you spend some time to give it a proper coloring, using acrylic paint.
Pros:
- price
- detailed exterior casting (with proper grooves providing depth etc)
- fully molded engine
Cons:
- inadequate exterior coloring (missing black stripes etc.)
- wrong color for the interior (beige seats, grey dashboard etc.)
- rims are too chrome-y and lack centrelocks
- plastic roof & rear engine bay lid
