6220g Dereal Pro is what I just setup and tested yesterday. 👌 mixed 25:1 fuel mix. Then put Canola oil in chain lube container. Love the easy pulling starting. 👌. Spun the chain up a few times then readjusted it. Then cut up some oak branches. Shutting it down and readjusted the chain. It fired with ease one gentle pull and off and running 🏃♂️ again. I shut it off and restarted it several times while trimming the tree and it's many branches. Effortless starting and cutting. Needless to say very happy so far with this saw. I have had a poulan 20" saw 👀 nevertheless it was junk and locked up on me. I was using the best 2cycle oil available at the time.

I seen in other manuals where 25:1 is for the first 20 fuel refills for break-in. After that, 50:1 would be good for the life of the saw.

I’ve run my Vehpro 52cc at 42.5:1 and it seems to do just fine. People that work on saws, port saws ect all pretty much advise more oil than 50:1. Some like 40:1 others 44:1. I’ve settled on 42.5:1 for all my saws and other 2-smokers that are advertised to run at 50:1.

Double spring easy start is a nice feature. only run this saw a 25;1 for the first 3 tanks of fuel, then to 40;1 you'll see the saw will run cooler at 40;1. When it is time for a new chain to skip tooth this little saw pulls the chain well. When adjusting the carb on this saw adust the high side in wood. The saw should be set to 4 strokes whenever there's no cut resistance on the engine. and always warm your saw before asking it to cut. I picked up two of these and they get used a lot because they are lighter than my Huskeys. I don't feel trees with these saws they have to prove themselves before I trust one for felling trees. After two years of hard work, the oil pump on one failed and the other one failed crank bearing and seals. Good little cheap woodcutter, but I don't feel they are worth rebuilding the crank bearings spun in the cases. this one also shows abnormal cylinder scoring.

When I was playing around with the Chinese 2-cycle bicycle engines you can get off of eBay, people in the forums were saying you should break them in with 25:1 and then switch to 40:1 after a certain number of hours. They'll smoke like crazy at the higher oil ratio but it helps the moving parts find their happy home and stay lubricated and cool while doing it. Being of dubious machining quality, you kind of need the special break-in juice they say. I'm guessing the same with these. I usually do a couple tanks and switch on any new 2-cycle stuff I run and I've never had any issues with compression and I've run some of those engines a ton of hours.

Hi, to mix the fuel 25:1 was very common back in the days with the old 2 stroke oils. With modern fully synthetic 2 stroke oils (e.g. stihl hp ultra made by Castrol) 50:1 should be absolutely sufficient. Same applies for other high quality oils. You say that it's running very smokey, right? On the long run you'll build a lot of carbon on the piston and inside the muffler which is not good. Of course it's only the humble opinion of a stihl collector and hobby restaurateur.. ;) Marco from Germany

Thank you for the advice. I did switch to 40:1 after I ran a gallon of 25:1 through the saw. It seems to run just fine with much less smoke. I've heard people say the 25:1 is just for the break in period but the manual the saw comes with isn't the best. Thank you for watching and leaving a comment!

@@viperstrike3827 Hi, again what oil did you use? Don't use cheap crap and don't let mixed fuel sit for long time. That's mandatory. The oil development made huge steps. I read in the 1940 or 50s it was common to mix the fuel with normal mineral based engine oil in a mixture 1:10 or 1:12. According to my experience it's also not good to use to much oil. Well you'll have carbon built up on the piston or in the muffler. In general I think that modern saws which go to 13 or 14k rpms are much more sensitive then the oldies with maybe 7 or 8k rpm. But again i'm only sharing my experience and maybe other people have other experience for some reason.

@@Swabian_sawman Thank you for the reply. It was Stihl oil it worked fine in our Stihl. Now that I have a little more knowledge. I think a bad crank seal caused a lean condition, which caused the cylinder scratches. I would still do at least 40:1 on older equipment. IMO newer saws have tighter tolerances, so a thinner film of oil is needed to take up the space between the piston and the cylinder wall. The gas cap on that old Homelite said mix half a pint of oil with a gallon of fuel. I wouldn't mix it that rich, but I would have more than 50:1

Ok, I get the safety equipment humor, "shorts and crocks," but unfortunately you give the general public too much credit. Safe chainsaw use is nearly unheard of in the DIY homeowner community. Any time I use a saw on my property people ask me if I am an arborist, because I wear chaps, helmet, hearing protection and safety boots - I look the part. People really need to treat saws and home maintenance power tools. I am looking out my window an the neighbor is mowing his law in shorts and cheap sneakers. Please, if you are a homeowner or casual chainsaw user, invest in chaps and good safety gear. The one time that saw bucks back, you will be thankful that you aren't bleeding out in your yard. One last safety tip, always have someone else present to assist and call 911 if it all goes to shit, time is of the essence when you are bleeding out from a mangled leg. Nice review! Thanks!

I however will be using mine as a Halloween prop. I don't know much about chainsaws, so I wanted to ask you a few questions if you don't mind. #- I will not be putting the chain on my saw. Since that is the case, I do not need to add chain oil right? I'm guessing "chain" oil is solely for the chain...? #2- that chain break bar is something I would like to get rid of, or cut it off at a certain point. For my purposes, i'd be doing that for aesthetics only. Lastly and probably the most important question is I'm hoping running a chainsaw without a chain will work and not blow the thing up...?
@NorthwoodsNoise
2 жыл бұрын
You are correct, "bar and chain oil" as the name implies lubricates the chain as it runs through the bar. If you're not planning on putting a chain on, no need for the oil. Everything else that needs lubrication will get it from the oil you mix with your fuel. I'm sure you could find a way to remove the chain brake if you wanted to, just remember it's gone if you ever decide to use it with a chain. Running it without the chain shouldn't be an issue. Long term it might reduce the life of the saw depending on how often you're revving it to max RPM. I'd still run it through the break-in period before using it as a prop as it will probably last longer if you do. Some people would argue that running it without a chain and without a load on the engine could reduce the life of the engine, but honestly I think you'd get quite a few Halloweens out of it before that become an issue. Hope that answers your questions and happy haunting ;)
@JinxDClown

@@NorthwoodsNoise great! ty! And the "break in period" means letting it idle for about 10-15 min straight?
@NorthwoodsNoise
2 жыл бұрын
@@JinxDClown the break in period for the dereal saw is 1-2 tanks of fuel mixed at a higher oil to fuel ratio (24:1). This helps all the internal metal surfaces "wear-in". Once you run through the heavier mixed fuel you can switch to a lighter mix of 40:1 or 50:1 and you should be good to go. For your purpose I'd just mix the first two tanks of fuel at 24:1 and use it (you could let it idle for 10 minutes before the first few times you use it, not a bad idea). It'll smoke a bit more until you switch to the 40:1, but the saw will thank you in the long run.

Tough to answer. It's got a lot to do with listening to how the saw sounds and feels. I adjust the low end for crisp throttle response off idle (no bog) and the high end with the saw in a log for peak RPM afterwards checking the spark plug to make sure it's not running too lean. This is Chinese clone of the Japanese Zenoah G5200. 62cc sound pretty unrealistic, but who knows. The originals Zenoah are 2 versions 45 and 50cc. I have similar Chinese saw, but 45cc, and it working without any problem already 3-4 years. Unfortunately, the factory settings that the Chinese enter at the factory are quite inaccurate. The idle speed was 3200 and the maximum 10500 rpm. The optimal rpm for these chainsaws are 2800 idle and 12500 max. I also change the stock chain with Oregon full chisel on the stock 16'' bar. The 2 stroke oil that I use is Full synthetic "Stihl HP Ultra" in proportion 50:1. The end result after all this was an increase in cutting speed by 1/3.

You are 100% correct.Almost all of the Ebay saws are the same unit. It is only 52cc, no matter what the listing says. In the usA, Lowes sells the exact same unit with a Craftsman label on it and the price is right around $150. All of these saws are 52cc also, no matter what the box says, Lol.. The only actual difference is bar length. They are not bad saws considering the cost. Most of the big box stores sell consumer grade clam shell saws made mostly of plastic. These units have metal cases and are an actual copy of a commercial grade saw. The bad side is getting parts. I searched for a long time until I found an oil pump. These units are constantly needing new oil pumps, as the cheap copies do not have the same tolerances and quality control needed to produce small intricate parts. I bought one on Ebay and when I received the package it had 4 in the box. I asked the seller if he made a mistake in packaging? His reply was that hopefully one of them will work properly? He was correct, as only 2 of them worked properly. When the oil pump stops the bar will get hot and then the side cover that holds the bar and chain will melt. The distance between the holes will get wider and the cover will become very difficult to remove. If you over tighten the nuts holding the bar, the studs will bend and no longer line up correctly. Run these units at 40:1 to break in and then 50:1 afterwards. Running 25:1 with modern oils is not needed.and all you are doing is fouling the plag. The air cleaner will also leak and suck sawdust through the carb and cause scoring on the piston and wallsin most cases unless modified to properly seat the filter. Most of them run great. If you get a bad one? throw it away and try again because it is not worth the time and labor to fix any issues other than sprokets, bars, chains and oil pumps.
