Hey! It's Mark, the chap whose voice you heard in Rodrigo's documentary. Before I comment on the feedback I just wanted to say that both of us have, in a way, grown together as we continue to work on more projects. We remember the previous video on Anilao, and glad that the improvements we saw in Creatures of Komodo were also clear to you. Regarding the feedback on narration and sound (Rodrigo already addressed the video part), we completely agree with what was said. 1) There was substantially more narration originally which we ended up cutting out and redoing to serve the visuals and the story more. I'm glad it's paid off and it absolutely gives Rodrigo's excellent visuals space to "breathe" more. 2) It was a challenge to find the right balance between music and voice. I'm a firm believer that the narrator is in service of the story and should never be the protagonist. We worked a lot on making sure it wasn't too loud or drowned out the music, but it also needs to be clear! Thankfully, music ducking is something we've worked on a lot to improve and we're really pleased with what we've been able to produce now (see most recent shark video). This also came from general equipment improvement as I have since upgraded my preamp (again, see most recent shark video). Glad to see so much alignment in opinion. Thanks guys!

Wow, I can't believe you watched the whole thing! That made me happy already. On the drone shots: All shots are video, I never use pictures (unless there is a reason to do so, e.g. archival images). I think the problem that you identified is that the drone was very high in the air, and from that perspective everything looks very still. I added some zoom in post to compensate for the static feel of the shot, and I guess I ended up with a "Ken Burns" effect. On the colors for the deeper shots. I find Sony images incredibly difficult to grade when shooting deeper (I tried for days). I am not finding the same issues with my new Canon camera in C-log2. On over-sharpening: There are two different issues going on, 1) I sneaked in three iPhone 14 Pro Max shots on land during the introduction. I did that for story coverage (as Matthias said)... I knew they were not ideal, but I needed them for the story and that is good enough reason for me to make the compromise. 2) I experimented with sharpening for some of my wider shots underwater. I think a little sharpening can help, because the water tends to make everything look softer. The problem is that in the shark scene, I think I went too far. On the ending. Matthias is the second person to tell me that the good feel of the film was ruined by the ending. Unfortunately, now that it is done, I also agree.... My review of your review is that you guys are becoming better reviewers! 🤣

The title text emerging from the mountains done in After effects or similar needed a touch more Gaussian blur around the mountain outline for a more pro smooth finish, just my opinion. The rest was fantastic and well done.
