Dude I just bought that controller! I'm pretty excited. Thanks for showing us this. Honestly, I wanna see more in depth gameplay about this core and you playing on the Mister. Shoot, it could be an entire series bro! The Mister Let's Play series or something chill like that. Hope you are doing well brother.

I’m sure you’ll love the controller they’re very well made. I’m lined up for another few videos on downscaling but you read my mind with a let’s play series. More like a ‘how I play’ as it’ll never cover all ways to output video etc. but to show what works for me. Either that or a game room setup tour at some point but after some downscaling I’ve got some CRT’s to tinker with. Thanks again for tuning in and hope you’re doing well too 😁

Thank you so much bro. I’ve had this controller for months and I read the instructions a bunch and still couldn’t get it to function properly on pc. But I because of your video I was able to put it into x input and it works amazingly on pc. Thank brooo!

I don't know why there aren't more videos covering this pad. It's a great GREAT alternative to the official NSO controller. Granted, eBay prices for NSO N64 controllers have dropped to a more affordable price, but The Saffun pad feels great in the hands and is a very respectable pad! Kudos to them!

The Saffun pads are also about 1/3rd the lag of the NSO controller. They’re a real hidden gem

Yes, the bilinear filter is the equivalent to Borti and MarshallH’s VI DeBlur. At first I wondered why he called it “bilinear” since I thought it only worked horizontally but I have since realized there is a vertical component. If you enable 16:9 mode in Mickey’s Speedway USA or Jet Force Gemini with Bilinear Filerting turned Off, you will lose whole lines of detail making text unreadable. When you re-enable the bilinear filter you can suddenly see some detail from the missing lines blended back in to the image making the text readable again. It seems there is some kind of vertical downscale that is broken when you disable the bilinear filter for these games.

That’s really interesting thanks for giving those examples. I’ll have a play with those games in widescreen and see. I only see the slightly enhanced horizontal clarity when I’m close to the screen or if I’m upscaling to the projector

That was always the case with the N64 blur. That it does not work properly across the board. You need to test it from game to game basis. This was also mentioned in MLIG’s video on the deblur.
@emmettturner9452
6 ай бұрын
@@MagisterHamid That was mainly because the “VI Blur” doesn’t apply to 640px lines. It turns 320px lines into 640px by inserting blended pixels between every rendered pixel. If you have a row of alternating black and white pixels the result will be a row of black, gray, white, gray, pixels. “Deblur” works by just ignoring every other pixel on the line and scaling from the original 320. So, yeah, VI DeBlur should be off on 480i screens… hence, the “Auto” and “Off” settings.

I’ve only tried it with 1 emulator on windows and it worked, others have reported it to also work. It needs to be in X input by holding start and B

Have you tried or could recommend Saffun's wired N64 controller? Wireless is nice but a two-pack of the wired version is less than $30 shipped and of course batteries or connection will never be an issue.

It sounds most likely like a flat battery. I’m sure you’ve tried charging it. I’d troubleshoot with using different charging cables/adapters, try wiggling the cable in case the female USB-C port has lost connection to the PCB. Next steps I’d take is to test the battery itself with a multimeter if you’re comfortable to do so. Otherwise I’d contact the seller to see if you can exchange for a new one. Hope you can get it sorted

Do you have a Wii U? Something I was missing from your downscaler episodes was downscaling Nintendo ds games running on Wii U to a CRT. How does they look when downscales to 240p. The vast DS library is just there ready to be accessed on a Wii U.
@MarcoRetro316

I do have a Wii U and have only ever installed the early vWii hack but never the Wii U at a deeper level. I have a modified DS console that outputs 240p composite video so I’ve never looked into other ways of emulating the DS. But it gives me incentive to properly hack the Wii U and try it out
@MagisterHamid

@@MarcoRetro316 what’s cool with Wii U is that it supports component cable. Which allows it to go as low as 480i. With a downscaler going all the way down to 240p would be ideal to as closely as possible match the DS resolution of 256 × 192 pixels. Definetly check it out

I have this controller and on my MisTer, it appears to map left and right on the analog stick to "left analog stick" and up and down on the analog stick to "right analog stick". The problem with this is that in the N64 core, it apparently only maps either the left or right analog sticks detected by the MisTer-- so you can either move up and down or left and right, but not both. Ive tried for a couple hours to resolve this, but no dice. Anyone know how to make it work? **EDIT - You must change the controller from DirectInput to Xinput by holding START + A (or START + B, dont remember) -- it will light up two lights on the controller, and once you remap everything, it works great on the N64 MisTer core! This controller feels great.
@MarcoRetro316

I had the exact same problem as you. I deleted the configuration file on the SD card for a fresh start but I’m not sure that was necessary. It mapped correctly when I defined the buttons exactly as I did in the video - Dpad right, analog stick right and down, space bar to skip the missing stick stick, assign the SNES layout, skip the next 8 mouse inputs, assign menu ok, menu back, home, then map analog stick right and down. It’ll be down to your mapping, hope you get it working easily
