28:01 : Mahavir is a real person. Contemporaneous to Buddha. Jains don’t have gods. Like Buddhism, Jainism is also an atheistic creed. There was a flourishing of atheistic thought in this period. The Charvaka and Ajivikas were the Hindu components of the movement, and all four were defined by the catch-all word, ‘Nastika’ philosophy, not because they were atheistic, but because they refused to accept the primacy of the Vedas. Atheism existed within the Vedic fold too, the ‘Astika’ philosophy - in the schools of Vaisheshika and Nyaya. Even Sankhya school is primarily godless. So it might come as a surprise to you that three of the six schools of classical Hinduism are godless. 😀. It always comes as a surprise to most. Btw, Jainism has a very sophisticated understanding of time, cosmogony and logics.

Jainism is a branch of Hinduism. in India what is called Hinduism is different in place to place. Jainism is one such different variant of Hinduism. these are not religions rather Dharmic culture.
