I bought another blacksmith's Post vise, or otherwise known as a Leg Vise, from a farm where it had been buried in the mud under a pile of scrap steel for an unknown amount of time. This looked like a great candidate for some tool restoration! It was seized up pretty badly and had a piece attached to the leg that looked like it had been buried in concrete at one time. We hope to use this vise in the future, so I cleaned off years worth of rust and dirt and restored this vise to a useable condition.
In the process we found a year, 1899, on one of the jaws. This model is a 5 inch wide jaw, and is very beefy compared to some other vises I have seen.
This vise is not the "tool haul" Vise, but we still have it and will be cleaning it up soon as well for use in our blacksmithing endeavors!
