Black with red lines on the edges. The Batmobile from the 1960's came to mind. That said, the watch is not my cup of tea. Indeed a gimmick that would be fun to wear for a day.

Bought one in Dark Green, love it. For anybody interested in purchasing one now the the 'review models' they sent out had a number of small finishing flaws however they addressed them for the final product and I can vouch that mine is flawless. So much so I'm actually impressed by how well finished it is I've bought Tissot's & Seiko's that weren't finished as well as the Drift was.

You've never mentioned you have a daughter before, really happy for you! I'm inclined to agree with you on the difficulty of reading analogue time. I grew up with digital time and still struggle a bit with analogue, which is why I favour legibility and points of reference (e.g. varying 6-9-3-12 markers, differentiated hours and minutes), as I still value a watch for telling time. I think a 'jumping hour' watch is possibly the best solution as it misses the clutter of analogue as well as digital. Hour is digital, minutes are are analogue. Not many like that unfortunately, and mechanical jump hours tend to be too audible for practical wrsd.

'Top Tip' (or maybe not). For years I've been convinced that a low viscosity, water based, white handcream, should be good for leather watchstraps, especially as it contains antibacterial elements. I have a light-midtan strap with ecru stitching that I'm particularly fond of that was waterstained, then sweatstained, so I decided to give it a go. Removed the watchhead and the buckle; put a generous amount of the cream on my hands, and rubbed it in, using a toothpick to get inside the holes. Left it for an hour, then cleaned it up with a soft rag. Voila! Very pleased with the result. Does anyone else......?

@@IDKline No it doesn't, and if it did I would have hesitated to use it on such a lightish 'tan', as lanolin is an oily substance and would have darkened the 'hue' permanently imho. Mine came straight out of the bathroom cabinet, and is marked: skin cream, for dry and sensitive skin, ph6.0, perfume free, waterbased. Also lanolin can cause an allergic reaction in many people. It's the best thing in the world for keeping sheep dry, but not so hot for humans.

It's only a gimmick , nothing more! But what's interesting is how they did it with the hour hands appearing more and more, since when you look at it, there should be only four , considering the angles the hour hands are lined up to each other!!! Can you explain Tim?

It's certainly a novelty but is there anything about this watch that makes it any more or less laughable than a whoreologically respected Urwerk watch? I will argue that it is a less stupid purchase because it doesn't cost $50,000 to $100,000+ like the "brand name" luxury version. Still not a watch for me, but I can appreciate that they're doing _something_ different than the same old same old divers, field watches and fliegers.

Definitely a gimmick, but a good one indeed: still usable even with an original design. Not my cup of tea, but if you like the style, you could do worse with your $329. For the quality issues, I think we should wait for a production specimen before judging, as prototypes are often a bit quick rushed. A note. Assuming "Ettore" is Italian (and a reference to Ettore Bugatti), the stress is on the first "e" ("Èttore").

Honestly, no, the look of the Ettore Drift doesn't remind me of cars. It reminds me of Urwerk, the way that a sparrow reminds me of an eagle. You did another wrist shot with your Tissot Banana, and mentioned, again, that it's your only quartz watch. Und so, bei der Gelegenheit: am I correct in assuming that 1,000 people have already talked to you about G-Shocks without arousing your interest, and that, if I made the 1,001st attempt, I would just be wasting my time and yours?

Although this FI style is not my cup of tea, I must admit that this is really a new and fresh style of automatic watch. Unfortunately my wrists are just like Tim´s so the piece won´t fit me at all. Regarding "Perpetual" I must say. Some four years ago I bought a Perpetual chronograph with a Seagull ST 19 movement and the bloody ticker gave up after two month ( Perpetua l= Everlasting ) I phoned with the boss and I honestly can say:The aftermarket service was bad, unfriendly and most unpleasant. Therefore - to me - these watches are just wonderfully looking crap.
