Revolution under Rubble is a part of anthology of films organized by @stemms the theme for which was BUGS, the link to watch the entire anthology is up in my bio (timecode: 35:08), as well as our film individually on youtube! This was a one week film, and the time flew by because we were working with such an insanely talented team.

Making a film about the Palestinian Genocide was something that came directly from the comments the former IDF chief of staff made in 1983, comparing Palestinians to “drugged roaches”. Reducing people to insects, killing them in droves, stomping out any means of resistance, this is an unacceptable reality. We knew this film would have a reach beyond just our accounts, we had an opportunity to create a film that could in some way allow people to devote resources to the Palestinian cause, either through donation of their money, or devoting their attention to the cause. Raising your voice in this moment, is the only way we can hopefully destroy the pervasive bigotry of the Israeli Regime, and end this unrelenting genocide.
The film focuses a lot on the process of metamorphosis, from inaction to action. So many people, like the caterpillar, are cloistered away and choose to do nothing, from the Exterminators reach, choose to do nothing. Instead the caterpillar chews her leaf, and walks away from any real responsibility. But bigotry, like smoke, carries in the wind, until everybody is retching in the same polluted thoughts.
The scene where the insects come together in protest, forming the flag, is symbolic of the pressure we can exert on governments and corporations that control the power imbalances in the world. The ones who can affect real change, by initiating a weapons embargo, and providing aid and asylum for those caught at the center of the genocide. The only way we have of protecting the victims, fighting for those whose lives have already been stolen, is through unity in calling the occupation as the racialized, apartheid genocide it is.
