This is my first time commenting on one of your videos, but I have been watching for a while and I think you are truly skilled. The motivation for this comment was about the rate you charge for your time. I think your specialized knowledge is worth significantly more than the upper end of the range you mentioned. As a general IT guy over ten years ago I charged $120 a hour and I think you are worth more. The market you operate in may not support that, but I wanted to say you should make sure you get payed what you are worth.

Sadly, can't watch the demo video 'cause some other country has told KZitem I'm too American for their music, and I can't visit the link to the product because it's listed as a malicious tracker. Good job, Google! Such a user-friendly experience!

It's situations like this where I desperately want to justify getting a scanner like this. It feels like the counterpart to the type of manufacturing we have today (3D printing, cnc, lasercutting, etc). Also, this sub design is absolutely stellar! Love the little TCP115 woofers. Excellent car audio project. If you can create some kits for Tesla, BMW and other popular cars for audio mod, you could easily convince lots of owner like me to either buy the plan or the kits to upgrade our audio system. It's more convincing than some of the specialist speakers kit without any audio measurement.

@NorwayVFX

I would say wait a few years if you want hassle free. Budget 3D scanners for hobbyists are still very new to the market but they are improving quick. I have the Shining3D Einstar and it's by far the best scanner you can get under like $5000, but you need a $2000 to $3000 PC to use it properly which sucks. Scanners like the Miraco and others that use mobile phones are super handy but for the moment a little slow and clunky to use.

I was in the hay day of loud deep base car stereo days of the early 90's. Lots of linear 5002's, rockford fosgate and literally tons of others on play. I've built systems that have gone to iasca soundoffs nationally mostly using kicker double stitched competition speakers in either isobaric, vented or passive radiator arrangements(popular then). I built and enclosure in place inside of a 75 vette stingray with 4 10" comp kickers and a 600 watt amp that kept breaking off the rear view mirror while driving. I miss those days even tho most music was metal and pop rock. Another system i built made a friends car sound like it had a radical cam in the engine from a block away as he came down the cruising strip playing the intro drums for hot for teacher(van halen). Those were the wild west days of stereo and speaker design that was so fun.

Well this answers a question I'd been wondering about. Whether spending the money to get a 3d scanner just to scan the area behind the seats in my 2015 Miata, in order to provide those to you would be helpful for you. I'm really hoping that I can get down to around 30 hz without sacrificing what little usable space the car has, and this gives me hope, lol.

WOW!!! That sound AMAZING!!! And only 200 watts??? How do you have them wired??? And is the amp in 2-channel or mono? (I doubt it but 4-channel? lol ) I'm just wondering all the detail because you said the speakers were 4-ohm and I it's not very often you can run amp in 6-ohm... well I guess I should say older high-wattage amps from the 90's..... at least that was what I had experienced on 3 different amps trying to run 3 x 2ohm speakers... they would all just shut off as soon as the bass hit..... Yea there are different classes of amps, but I don't know very much about the technical side of it all... which I am SURE you are VERY fluid in :) yea... now that think about it, my little tiny home amp I got just as a little substitute for running my VERY HOT Onkyo 7.2 receiver ... and I THINK thats where I saw the manual say "16,14,12,10,8,6,4,2,1 ohm stable" - I was baffled!!! But it's some VERY CHEAP 30 watts x 2 + 100 watt x 1 Chinese no-name amp that I've had running for about 5 years now, and we ALL know how truthful those specs can be LOL ..... ANYWAY, I am IMPRESSED with your little setup.. except for 1 thing :( - You REALLY should have painted the inside of the box.... LOL .. yea no one is gonna look at it, but WE DID... and it really doesn't look good.... what if you wanna show it to someone??? bah... it's no big deal :) And I'm still impressed

I wish 3D scanners and a half descent 3D printer could be had for like sub 500$. By the time you go and get a shit ton of tools its gonna cost you roughly the same anyways plus the possibilities are endless with a scanner and printer. You can easily design just about anything you need for any application and just make it happen on a computer. IMO for car audio its almost a must especially if you want to go and do something really custom and fancy. Having those 3d scans is so valuable. Maybe your next video should be a budget friendly 3d scanner and printer combo video and you try and use it to idk make tweeter mounts for an a pillar.

@callardo1
5 ай бұрын
The short answer is yes. It is the sole reason why my daily phone is an iPhone. It takes more effort to get a proper scan but it is very doable. I've went as far as scanning the space for an intake filter housing and printing it from that scan.

The iPhone LiDAR really isn't useful if you want any kind of accuracy and detail. If you want cheap and good, the best thing you can use is a regular digital camera or a phone camera, and use a good photogrammetry app. It takes a lot of time to get enough pictures but the right software will get you some really good results compared to the LiDAR.
