The only thing that made me get out of this health anxiety shit was working on my underlying fear. Also, living with uncertainty and acceptance. Read Dr. Claire weekes books who is the pioneer of anxiety recovery, read Dr. Albert ellis's books who is the inventor of CBT therapy. These two people saved my life. Again a tip, don't try any distraction method. Sit with the anxiety. Sooner or later you will realize it isn't that bad as you thought. Live your life even if you have 10/10 anxiety. I hope those people who are suffering, get close to their recovery.

I couldn’t agree with you more. I’m on a 60% to 70% healthy diet and jog at least 5 times a week. My anxiety hasn’t triggered for weeks now simply because of my fitness activities and dietary plan. In fact, I have more energy than ever lately with eating alive vegetables and fruits, and minimal protein. Yes, my anxiety has been a rough experience for me but I had to turn that into an opportunity to understand my body and be health conscious. After all, eating healthy eliminates buck loads of other diseases that are Heart related, hypertension, cancer, kidney related, etc. The feeling of being in control over my life once again is priceless. I agree. I started off in late 2013 and I’d say 2014 was the worst year of my life. I’d have panic attacks, numerous doctor and ER visits. There was always the nagging chatter in my head that my heart was going to malfunction at any time. I restricted my movements. Went to therapy, did CBT, and more. Watched 1000s of self help videos. Was on medication, SSRI for one year, off it since March. Still have the nagging feeling, the cardiacphobia, looking for signs of any palpitations or sensations. I’ve been doing good this year, I walk every day, eat well, but I still have the aching joints, tiredness and fear even after all that work. I guess years of constant thinking and reactions to the sensations is ingrained in the mind. Some weeks I’m fine, but it’s a cycle that always goes round and round. I must admit I haven’t had a panic attack since January 2019. That was the last big ordeal that lead to an ambulance call to ER. I find music, walking, playing guitar helps to distract. Being busy does too. It’s easy to fall back into the trap if you’re not careful!

Sometimes the attacks comes when I feel the pain. The pains comes and goes. Been in doctors already, rheumatologist, orthopedics, and others. Everything seems to be normal just Muscular contractures in the back. But sometimes my mind makes me think if maybe the doctor made a mistake. For me, my fear is Cancer, not the heart. Something I've been finding to be very difficult during my recovery journey is to manage stress. I have a job that I love, but unfortunately there are sometimes stressful situations that make me very tense and in result raise my anxiety during the day. What are some healthy copping mechanisms that you could suggest to handle stressfull situations? Unfortunately, I don't have the luxury to switch jobs at the moments. Hey just curious, was your muscle tension pretty much 24/7 during the 5 year period? I've suffered with this about the same amount of time that you did. And the only difference, I don't really suffer from panic attacks. Just the chronic tension and other physical symptoms that go along with it. And I'm not worried that symptoms are anything other than anxiety. I think my problem is, the chronic tension and symptoms are keeping me in this low level fight or flight because the symptoms have become the "danger" that I'm running from. But I've been at this so long now that it seems to be ingrained in me! I decided a few months ago to quit watching anything else on anxiety, but still come back to your videos from time to time because I relate to these more. Sorry the post was so long. Thanks!!

It started with occassional pulling below the ribs, and then when all hell broke lose it became almost constant pressure all accros upper abdomen. But elsewhere too on and off. It really scares me. Have you seen anxiety centre website? They also explain it well and have a strategy how to desentisize again. It seems to be a long process.I don't know if it works. I hope it does. I am also afraid I will now be forever like this. By the way, have you tried taking somethng like xanax to see if that helps reduce tension. I know it is not a long term solution. Just wondering if it actually works... I took a 0.25 mg once and I didn't really see a big effect (maybe because in my head I was worrying just as much as before I took it).

Hi there, I listen to your channel daily. You are a wealth of knowledge, and explain things in a really effective way. I’m wondering if I am in fact dealing with health anxiety... one symptom has been constant for 4 months. I’ve had an array of tests that all came back clear. I worry about one certain disease mostly. My question is.. there is one more test that I feel like can give me the answer, however if it came back that I had this.. there is nothing you can do about it. What would you do?... it’s like a catch 22 Please advise!!!❤️

Great video. How were u able to get over ur fear of exercise due to your heart anxiety? I have always been active, whether itd be hiking, or playing ball with friends, but since I have developed this heart anxiety, it has kept me from doing a lot of those physical activities that I love. I find myself trying to avoid anything strenuous that will trigger my heart rate to go up even though I know that it's a just normal reaction. Theres been times I've purposely ran or did something to get my heart rate up to try and overcome my fear, but then I'd have trouble getting it back down due to my overthinking and anxiety. Thanks in advance and thank you for doing this service of helping others by putting out these videos...

I can relate to this so much and I too would often get a lot more anxious when I started running. I was so aware of my heart beat... But to be honest I didnt really do anything much to get over the fear but pushed through it. I think your attempt to expose and get used to the sensation is the way to go. I started gradually with very slow jogs and built myself up.

@@ImprovementPath Thank you for the response. I'm definitely going to try to take it slow at first. I've been trying to sleep in positions where i can better feel my pulse to get me used to it without freaking out. It just blows my mind that it's even come to this when this never used to be an issue before. Some nights are better than others, but I'm taking it one day at a time. Videos like yours inspire me and I like the fact that you actually respond to your viewers...

@@nikZocovers I'm way better now. I still occasionally have my episodes once in a great while but I'm able to control it a lot better. I just try not to think about it and go about my daily life as if nothing is wrong, because in all honesty, there is nothing wrong with us physically. I know it's easier said then done to not think about it, but there are things u can do to help u. It is important to have something to look forward to. To feel like u have a purpose. For me, I got into collecting sneakers and restoring/customizing them. I looked forward to receiving a new pair for myself or looked forward to workin on pairs for customers. I didn't want anxiety to control my life and so that was my way of trying to regain control. Over time the anxiety became less frequent the more I got into the hobby. Go find a new hobby, or get back into an old hobby u used to love. If u have trouble finding something to look forward to, u can always look forward to the time that things get better again because they do. They always do. I hope this helps.

@@nikZocovers as far as getting over my fear of doing anything strenuous, I basically told myself that no matter what, my heart rate will eventually slow back down, which it does. You gotta think about all those people that exercise for hrs with their heart rates raised to the max and they come out of it perfectly fine. It was scary at first but u have to face ur fear to get over ur fear, and be confident that things will get better. Watching videos like this and talking to people that has anxiety helped a lot too. I never knew just how many people actually suffered from anxiety until I started talking about it. I Hope the best for u man...

@karenruane7297

I get that too, as I get really short of breath when I'm having an attack. The best way to combat dizziness quickly, I find, is to take slow deep breaths. Depending on what you're doing and where you are at the time of your attack, go somewhere safe and quiet (comfy armchair, sofa, bed etc) and concentrate on those slow deep breaths 👍
@ImprovementPath
3 жыл бұрын
I agree with Karen here, first thing you will have to do is to slow down your breathing. I know it is super hard as the results will only kick in minutes later but it probably is the only way that can bring some shorter term relief. That is why I always mention in my videos that one should always use the time between attacks to really get those stress levels lowered and working towards a life that is fulfilling and being true to yourself. This might sound a bit like BS but I promise you that by just going this road you will be so much happier which automatically results in overall less stress.
