ReWorks asked local artists to create works of photography to show the process of transformation. ReWorks hopes these images will help you reframe how you look at curbside recycling.
Artist Bradley Hart
Material - Metal Food and Beverage Cans
With excitement I saw the potential of imagery in an object (a steel can) which itself must have been made from recyclables--living, if you will, many lives--this only another instance of its' eternal return.
I wanted to explore this concept of eternal return, the potential of objects and perhaps more--ideas, art, beauty, love--to live and fade and be reborn as something new again. To employ multiple exposures--especially, as I did, in camera, with intention but without certainty of outcome--as a way to express not only transformation but the thought of existing in many forms at once, in many moments at once. Every recyclable object is at once a living history of past lives, present form and future rebirth; only many images in one can even begin to illustrate such thoughts.
