Excellent video. Sadly there are many decent people who think that being gay (I'm talking about sexual attraction, not sexual activity) IS a choice. That leads to all kinds of problems. Ask a gay man when he decided to be gay, and he usually responds with a blank stare. The question doesn't make sense to most gay men. The question may make sense to a 50/50 bisexual man who decides to focus on men.

Be proud of who YOU are. I was 40 with two small kids when I met my love. He was 18 and a college freshman. In Sept, it will be 30 years. From the day Paul started at Corp America after receiving his business degree, he was out. No one ever had a problem. Everyone loved us at function. No one could believe we were gay. Most have the idea that we all have to be very feminine. To each their own. We just a basic guys. We have so many family and friends....gobs of them. They all love us.... except Paul's dad. He cried like a baby 30 years ago when Paul told him he was gay. Never could get over it. His Mom has always been loving from day one. She is five years older than me. She left Paul's dad when Paul was 6.... Dad was always an ass to all. Still lives in the 50's, and very miserable, and a "poor me." He has missed so much. Paul gave up on him 20 years ago. Our two kids and grandkids and nieces and nephews and everyone loves us so. We have no problems(well, everyone has a problem here and there, but you know what I mean.) Even had a 90 year old neighbor, who did not like us at first, leave us his $200,000 home. Just be who you are, and be proud. I feel so bad for all who live a lie. We only live once.

We've been together for 4 years and it's wild to hear you've been in a similar relationship 24 years before our own.... When I was in elementary school, the other kids would ask me if I was gay. Having grown up in an old school Christian home where I learned to read from the KJV Bible, I had an unfortunate command of Elizabethan Era English. I grew up thinking gay meant happy. Not homosexual. So I often replied "It depends on the day. Today? Very gay/not gay." The kids always laughed and I didn't know why. What irony that it proved to be very true for me in ways I had yet to understand. It really does depend on the day. Being bi is a curse.

It's hard... My bf has three kids as well. His middle kid loves him regardless. His oldest, is generally selfish, but also okay with it. The youngest.. He's not ready to tell him yet, so we'll see. Mom and sister? It depends I guess, but I'd say it's safe to assume they won't be thrilled. Most people aren't, if they don't have gay people in their life it's just such a confusing thing to them. If you decide to come out, it's because you want to share something important to those you care about. Sick of hiding. You are being your true self...and if they don't accept that, you need to be okay with that. You are who you are and you should try to be comfortable with that. Good luck bud

It’s a long and winding road. A friend of mine, a cop, with four adult children, came out. He has really struggled. All the emotions and drama thrown at him. His wife wished it was dead. His children had great difficulty. Which was very painful for him. I think it’s been about five years now since he came out. Notwithstanding, he did have many happy times meeting men and socializing in the gay community. There are gay father groups which are very supportive and he has middle-aged, peers, gay men have a lot of insight, compassion and time to listen. His kids have adjusted to a large extent. Though the youngest boy is struggling. It sounds like the wife will never except the new man which is understandable. So my message is, find support systems to get through to the other side, best of luck. You may also have issues from your childhood related to your own siblings and relatives which will come up as you disclose who you are. Be strong my friend.

This whole "a real man is into women" thing is so... wrong. First, the sex act itself is unbalanced in that he enters her but she never enters him. And, being str8 means that you experience life in such a limited way - all the emotions from A to B. Being gay is so much more... but society, being misogynistic, sees being gay as being female, and less than, and worthy of scorn, which draws into question the whole notion that a man could ever love a woman, as she is so much less than he is... Fucked, eh?

You can be gay and be a man, a good man, a strong man. It takes a bloody strong man to say it out loud if it is something that scares him. When I was younger a cousin told me how brave I was going home with my partner and not caring what people thought. I was 'gay' then in the eyes of the world ( but am trans ) I told him that what and who I was was no one's fucking business, that 'straight' people didn't feel the need to explain themselves. Maybe I am stronger than most, people say that but honestly hands down a strong open honest gay person largely outshines all those 'straight' name calling shits out there. I changed genders and again didn't inform people, just walked into the hospital, had the operation, walked out, changed wardrobes and got on with my life, no explanation no fear and no labels. I don't tell people that I am trans, again it's no ones fucking business and that in no way is because I feel shame or wrong. I don't give fuel to people's fires. I am at peace. God bless.

One day? Really? That day is now. Nobody needs to know what I am, they need to know who I am. I’m not asking people if they’re straight, bi, gay, trans or any other sexual orientation. Why should anyone ask me and expect an answer? I’m lucky to live inThe Netherlands where you can marry someone of the same gender. Legally that is, just like a man and woman. The law ceremony and registration are the same. There are even some protestant churches that marry people of the same gender. Although for most churches it’s a step too far. There is a psychological issue for some gay men. The thought is, if I were a real man, but you are a real man, no I mean a real man. What is a real man,,,, question, a heterosexual, oh. Your friends will laugh, you are a real man. And then there is the indigenous peoples of Canada who talk about someone who is two spirited. Today we have gender fluidity. I can see how transgendered people on multiple levels think of themselves as somebody discontiguous to the body image which appears in the mirror. It’s a whole sense of one’s identity. As we age you end up at a point where you see your face in the mirror and you wonder how did I get so old. Again the mind is not at the same place as the physical appearance. So all of us can’t sit in front of a mirror privately spend an hour if you can looking at yourself and talking to yourself about who you are. It’s a good idea to do this every five years. It’s surprising to discover who is inside.
