Reykjavik, on the southwestern coast of Iceland, is the country's capital and largest city. The vikinging inspired concrete Hallgrimskirkja church and rotating Perlan glass dome offer sweeping views of the sea and nearby hills. Exemplifying the island’s volcanic activity is the geothermal Blue Lagoon spa, near the village of Grindavik in the Southern Peninsula. Seltún Geothermal Area is but one part of the much larger geothermal area, Krýsuvík, located on the Reykjanes Peninsula, Iceland.
Snæfellsjökull National Park, on the tip of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula on western Iceland, is named after Snæfellsjökull, a 700,000-year-old glacier-capped stratovolcano.
