Not really, most new rackets from all the big brands are somewhere between 250-300

I feel like a lot of reviewers don’t think there’s anything special about this racket but are afraid of explicitly saying so due to how strong the RF brand is 🤷♂️

As an owner of the RF97 Autograph that I currently use and love, I completely agree - it seems like an attempt to make a new successful line of racquets they hope consumers will like but has nothing to do with what Roger would actually use

Because there isn't, it's a racket with little to no new technology, it has a classic feel, but it's way (way) better than playing with a RF97. I honestly believed this racket was pure marketing gimmick by Wilson, but I decided to play-test them both (01 and 01 Pro) as the specs were similar to the Ezone 98 (which I love). Coming from a Percept as main racket and an Ezone that I like to use sometimes, I was extremely skeptical... but to my surprise the racket was really good. I am 38 yo fit, aggressive play-style, OHBH and I like to come to the net, so this one was (as said in this review) a racket made for my style of play and I connected immediately. I have never believed on the "this racket is made for OHBH", but this one is just superior to anything else I tried before: very stable at contact, easy to swing and surprisingly decent in generating spin. Also slices are a joy to play, but also defensive flat shots are quite decent. After 6+ hours of hitting with the 01 and almost the same with the Pro, I decided to switch to the 01, the Pro is indeed very demanding and quite heavy, requires way more in terms of foot work. On top of that, the 01 is great for customization, if you want to give it a shot. As 300g base (even if mine was 295 unstrung, not really great QC), it's easy to add 5-7g in few places to make it match the desired feel. I was expecting this to be a sort of Shift branded as RF, but I as totally wrong, this racket doesn't shine on anything particularly, it has nothing special, but it does everything decently well, which for the today type of game is kind of a rare racket as most are either pointing towards comfort + large sweet-spot, with generous head size, or are marketed to generate crazy amount of spin. Very few rackets are aiming towards a more all-court style of player, so this racket is for that type of player, as Roger used to be. On top of that, it's easier to use compared to a 340g unstrung stick... if you are a RF fan. About the small sweet-spot, compared to other rackets of the same size (98") it's true this one is indeed smaller, but this is probably down to the reason that, considering Roger's string setup, it's meant to be used with natural gut in the main which opens up the the sweep-spot a bit more, if you play with gut or a soft poly tensioned around 20kg (44/45lbs), this racket is a joy to play with if you are an all court player. If you are an all-court player or double specialist, give it a shot, it's worth the time, but if you are an aggressive baseliner or your play style requires a lot of spin, just stay away from it, it's not really the targeted audience.

This is really a platform racquet, not for a beginner! It needs 4g of lead at 9 and 3 and counter balanced in the the but. This is needed for increasing the tiny sweet spot and the stability for plough through for return of serve and heavy balls from a good player to return! Maybe some more lead added in the throat to increase the overall static weight and keep the balance and not increase the swing weight anymore.

I think the normal rf is better for beginners that just want the name but i agree that the blade does the job better. I also want to recommend you a string combo for your next power or spin racket. I play with a pure drive 98 and with a poly tour pro(crosses) and poly tour spin(mains) hybrid. It is unconventional but it works really well for me and would love to see your opinion. Love the content as well💪

i love my RF97A in stock form. its not light but i like the weight and twistwright. plus the power, spin and feel is superb even its a tad stiff. Though a softer poly or suitable tension helps a lot. i used to play with 355-360 swing weight frames with a similar weight (360 grams) so dweight isn't sn issue for me. in fact i like the faster swingspeed due to the more headlight balance. i understand the trend is towards lighter frames, but i don't see the advantages the new RF 01 offers. the autograph is nimble and whippy despite its mass.plus more stable for sure.

Can imagine that plow and stability is less than the pro cause of the weight, like the RF97 with 340gr? Also the pro is less handle heavy which helps with making angles etc. Advanced players would want to add at least 5-10 grams I guess. How would you then compare with Blades or others apart from forgiveness.

Ok I need a bit of advice I’m a trans girl and have been on hormones for years now and have lost a ton of my muscle mass as a result of the lack of testosterone in my body. I can’t use my extreme tour which weighed at 307 grams unstrung. I’m thinking about buying a new racket sth a bit easier to move through the air. I don’t know if I should go with the regular RF01 or the Future one. Never was a fan of the blades. Ultras were too stiff for my taste and I generally like to play with control and some spin. I wanna move away from head rackets since I don’t really like the feeling that it gives me. So any suggestions?
