I have this truck. Out of the box, it was not so good. Frame was jacked- not aligned. Bumpers not aligned. Twisted up one side, down the other. Body did not fit side step grooves. Pretty bad. Oem shocks not so good. The GOOD : I bought this because it had the most important components stock. Ex.: metal trans gears., ring & pinion, metal suspension links. I aligned frame/body/bumper. It took some work. I installed (blue) 90mm injora shocks w/ 90 wt. shock oil. Lowered the frame by bolting shocks to top hole in shock hoops. Removed wheels. Installed injora beadlock/ tires hyrax on vehicle. But also put 77 grams of sticky weights on each wheel. Removed ugly chrome pin striping. Painted body Army green. Put taillights in back. The throttle control needs backing off to crawl better. Turned up all the way, this truck is way too fast. It's OK with stock electronics. The esc is quite good. Servo is also strong. Now that these issues were fixed, it articulates well, and crawls great. My trx4 sport came out of the box perfect. But I had a great sense of accomplishment making the RGT capable. I would not say don't buy it because the basics are there. You may have to tweak things. Worth knowing I have an RGT 86100 and an FTX OUTBACK GEO (same as RGT). Both are excellent. Shocks on GEO sucked. Other than that, great . RGT 86100 was great too, all it needed was shocks. Installed 4- KING 100 mm shocks..... For what it's worth.

I found for about $25 and some work you can make this thing into a performance king! My first experience with the Sendero HD was also similar to yours. Straightened it up, made some tweaks and then magic on the rocks. Accomplishment / achievement after doing this enhances the satisfaction when you're driving it, as you say. Awesome!!

I have always been curious about these RGT crawlers. I have probably every model in my amazon cart just sitting there but cant bring myself to pull the trigger lol. I noticed a few of their models have a panhard and 4 link up front. Id just remove the upper link but still its weird that they do that. The reason why I havent tried one out yet, is the exact reason you said. At the price point, I just dont see it worth trying over an scx10II, gen8 or enduro. Or enduro kit 2 for that matter. If they were priced around 200, i might try it. I was looking at the one that has cantilever rear suspension, I wonder how that one performs? Great video as always! Thanks for the info!

That video will be coming soon. In stock form it's a fine trail truck, if that wasn't clear - it's a compliment to its unrealised potential to be compared to some of the bigger names. That was interesting and revealing. Once again, I think you got your reviews really well tuned-in by now. I'm really enjoying through all the video without dragging along or getting lost in the footage or your comments at any time. Great job! As for the rig. I was never that interested and hadn't noted the panhard + 4-link front. Seems like Panhard was a bit of an afterthought (that actually happened in their 1/18th scale trucks). But it's nice that both the Panhard and the steering link are adjustable. Not many big brands have that option, that I recall, and while not critical, it's all part of the fun to fine-tune your rig. I think what happens here is a bit like with real cars and many other products, really. Cheaper brands are really good at making cheap stuff, but when they try to bite a bit of the market that requires more quality components, they try, and they're nearly there, but with perspective, their value seems to be a bit more off, and not really worth once investing into that size/cost of an RC or whatever else you're getting into. Again, as others have said, if these put more people into the hobby, as I see regularly they do, it's always great. I can also appreciate the potential to get this to a higher level with a moderate investment but, as you imply, you're probably much better off starting with the 136100 V2, unless you're too scared of getting a small-sized rig - which IMO, you shouldn't, as they bring a different yet as entertaining of a challenge-. This will always stand a bit on its own due to its singular size, but still be a good rig to keep once you decide to jump onto other platforms. I have said several times spice of life is in variety, so the more choices to drive different stuff, the better.

Wow this was a bit of a surprising let-down! There is another channel that has talked up this model enough that I was curious about the pro kit version with the carbon fiber chassis. I'm glad I didn't go for it at this point and thank you for this review! I never did notice the 4-link + panhard thing in the front. I see other comments recommending some upgrades, but I wonder if the add-ons put you in the range of a local hobby store type brand / household name. In other news, I discovered today that I inadvertently bumped my Sendero out of Sorrca Class 2 by adding the dig transmission to it 😂🤦♂. It's so much fun with dig! I'll have to see how the local clubs feel about it, but if they're following sorrca rules, I may have to go back to the Element OD transmission
@RCTNT
2 жыл бұрын
Heh yep, a DIG will knock you out of the major rulesets in c2/performance scale, lol. But having driven with it, you'd appreciate why! As far as this truck goes, it isn't terrible. I mean, it did finish several of the problems. Some simple mods might help it along, too. If you can finish problems 1 and 2 on my set, and problem 5 to a lesser extent, you're in the same ballpark as the big guns. From there it's incremental improvement to get to top tier performance - and if you consider its cost, it isn't a bad machine. It's just that there are considerably better performers out there for not a lot more. I think the Sendero and the Gen 8 V2 both cost me just AUD$60 more than this thing was. Value goes out the window at that comparison! But on its own, price aside, it's quite OK.

@@RCTNT Thanks, I appreciate the voice of reason. I can certainly see why you get knocked out of C2 😅. That's good perspective on your 6-problems too. Good review. Pretty much my feelings as well. I hear you about the panhard and four link. Articulation and axle alignment I hated out of the box. I took a different approach than your suggestion. I left four link and removed the panhard. I like that better (I tried both ways). Also (at least on my version which is about 2 years old) you can move the battery tray forward sitting right over the center on the truck. There are mounting holes there. Doesn't necessarily help with center of gravity, but it does move the weight forward which I believe helps. I also put TRX4 shocks on it and cheap set of injora tires and beadlock wheels. I run a small 3s lipo for when I just need brute force (all electronics have held up fine) . I believe the back bumper is the problem with it hanging on things when you're climbing. I'd like to find a slightly shorter body and adjust the bumper in about an inch; I think that would help. Overall, I think the truck was over priced, but I like it. It's the only crawler / trail truck I have so I nothing to compare it to. I'm mostly into basher monster trucks having a bunch of those.
