Hi Christopher! I followed your instructions with a rhino 3dm more complex (a group of buildings). Unfortunately after saving as dxf, Ecotect doesn't let me import it. I've tried to re-open the dxf file in Autocad and it works. I also saved in a older dxf version (2000) but still nothing. Any suggestions? thanks

Thanks for the great guides. I took a 3dmodel i made and just exported the polysurfaces I have, it was not that many, like 12ish. However, in ecotect it is split up into hundreds and thus if i check the surface direction, there are like thousands of arrows. A part of it helped when I used "Modify/Merge coincident triangles" but not all. How can I fix this?

I usually convert the polysurface into a mesh in rhino and unifymeshnormals to be sure they are all the correct direction. You can do the same thing in 3ds max. I think it is best to export a mesh and import that mesh into ecotect. Polysurfaces don't work well.

+Christopher McAdams Thanks for the answer. Even though I have put hundreds of hours working in rhino, I am embarresed to say that I do not reall know the difference between a polysurface an a mesh. So ho would u do that?

So I followed the guide with a more complex geometry. I have round columns for example and if I show surface normals then there is about 500 arrows pointing outwards prob meaning that it divides this round columns into 500 small mini-surfaces. Also it has some other faces facing inwards but the majority facing outwards correctly. My question is, do you think this will work fine or will this all mess up the calc? Maybe the inside columns doesnt even matter?

+Göran Heintz I think it is best to use less detailed models. Have many many surfaces will make the calculation take hours.

Thanks for answering! Btw you might not know the answer but what if I am doing a large tower and only redo two floors. Would you make a basic model of the whole thing or would you just do the two floors? But then the altitude doesn't matter? Btw many thanks for your videos, I watched most of them and I enjoy it a lot

i'm sorry, i have not the "ecotect" option in Export Option (2:40). What could be the problem? (I have rhino5) Thank You.

+Matteo quarta I made that export option myself. You can create a new scheme. Watch 2:50.
