I just found your channel and I was impressed. I would love to build a forge someday. I really want to get into making knives etc but I just don't have the resources. I was very happy to see you are a Christian believer as well. I am definitely a subscriber now and looking forward to seeing more of your videos. God bless y'all

I sure appreciate your sub (and your walking with the Lord)! I have built a few forges now, two gas and one coal forge. But you don't actually need much time or money to try it out. Some guys have gotten started with a hole in the ground with some charcoal in it, some pipe feeding it air from a blow drier, and a short section of railroad track for an anvil. You can do it on a budget if you have a safe place to set yourself up. Maybe look into videos like the recent one from Black Bear Forge where he showed a pretty cheap way you might get started...🙂

Hey brother, thats a cool firebox. I just started forging not too long ago, its a great outlet for creative expression! Do you have some kind of back flow cutoff to stop the fuel if the blower cuts off? Lets say the power cuts off by your dog tripping over the cord and the blower stops-now burning fuel makes it back to the fuel supply and theres a possibility of explosion should the tank ignite. Look it up, its a relatively simple solenoid thats setup normally open when power is supplied, ran through the circuit when the forced air blower is turned on. This would be a safety for that just in case kind of scenario. Brother in Christ, just looking out for a fellow Kansan! Happy forgings!

That is a really neat idea, and I will sure look into it. I do have a propane rated quick connect with a ball valve on it right where it connects to the air assembly. It is pretty easy to shut off by hand, and obviously I would normally always be within 15 feet of it. But the idea of an automatic safety valve is intriguing, although I have next to zero experience with using a solenoid to do anything. Thanks for the suggestion! Where do you live in Kansas? I hold regular hammer ins in the SW corner, and would love to have you join!

@@theblacksmithingpastorguy I'm from the Topeka area, just moved up to Minnesota recently. Your shop is really impressive, I'm slowly getting mine together an ill be picking up a knife kiln from HGR surplus (check them out, lots of cool industrial shop tools). If I'm ever in the area a hammer in would be cool to attend
