I think you're right on the money! IMHO there is ample evidence of "territorial" strikes that are frequently chalked up to "accidents." Maybe there needs to be a new category for these, because they're not accidental and they're not really predations. We know large sharks will do this to each other, and assuming they recognize us as fellow predators the strikes make a lot of sense. It reminds me of the "surprised" bear attacks we have up here in AK. An animal with excellent hearing and a preternatural sense of smell isn't "surprised" that a person is there. It's reacting to an idiot human stumbling into a moose kill or its cubs.

Indeed, Hal. The shark saw Mr. Fox as its competition for food. If it wanted to consume him, it would have obviously done so. I believe that the only reasons Mr. Fox survived that attack was due to quick thinking and excellent physical conditioning. Rodney Fox was certainly a popular TV figure for many years following the "Jaws" film. He was mentally and physically as tough as nails; and still is.

@@JohnnyDanger36963 where? I’ve seen it so many times, sadly. Some news agencies and KZitem channels are CHOOSING to censor it, along with many other images from attacks, due to KZitems monetisation policy. Surprisingly, many advertisers don’t want a video selling their product appearing connected to a graphic video showing someone dying, getting maimed, etc. IKR, it’s a conspiracy! The videos can go up uncensored. But it just means you won’t make money on the video. And, I may be wrong, but usually for graphic violence/gore, etc, even KZitem won’t put ads in those videos. You get a warning (twice I believe) that the video contains graphic content.

Hi, thanks for the review of Rodney Fox's attack. To highlight your point about White Sharks knowing what we are rather than confusing us with a seal or what not, one only needs to watch two or three of the gorgeous videos on the Malibu Artist Channel. He has his drone footage really perfected. And it shows that Great Whites, mostly juveniles, are near the beaches and around people much of their time. They are even very curious and check us out, mostly without the people noticing that they are doing so. This also shows what an extraordinarily rare event an actual attack is. Highly recommended, like your channel.

People that spearfish are just asking for trouble. I mean you've got a dead fish on the end that gives out all these distress signals plus the scent of blood which sharks can pick up on from miles away so they come in expecting an easy meal. It just so happens a human being is right in the crosshairs of being attacked themselves so when they do I've no sympathy really. You're just putting yourselves as bait
