Richard and Judy making fun together after the children had a great time in school. It broadcasts on Channel 4 on Monday to Friday at 5.00 to 6.00. I've seen this programme. I wish the TV ARK website can add this video clip segment.

Some time ago, after the series finished, Richard was saying how the show didn't quite work at first, and how they tweaked around with the formula for quite a while before it worked how they wanted it to. Thing is, I thought that it very much did work well when it first started, and that the adjustments all made it weaker. It wasn't ever a bad show, by any means. But the slower pace and less variety of items led to it becoming increasingly adrift from the attention of all but the loyal audience. Channel 4 wasted the potential of this show, by turning cold towards it after the honeymoon period.

The move to the WATCH channel on Sky was a disaster for them. It was titled "Richard and Judy's New Position" and would air at 8.00pm Tuesdays-Fridays with a compilation repeat on Mondays. By Christmas 2008 viewing figures were as low as 50,000. In January 2009 they moved it to 6.00pm and axed the "New Position" title and revamped the set, to make it more like the old Channel 4 set. These changes did not help and by early summer 2009 they were only doing one new show a week before being axed in July 2009.

The Watch version of the show looked pretty poor, although I've only seen snippets of it. Richard & Judy work best on magazine formats, whereas their Watch programme was mainly a chat show. Even on ITV at their peak they failed to succeed with a prime time chat show. It's just not what the audience want from them. I think Richard suits hosting The Wright Stuff, Channel 5 should find him something of his own. I know Richard & Judy, Judy in particular, are not so interested in TV work these days but I don't think their value is understood these days. Channel 4 lost interest in them and elbowed them out in favour of Paul O'Grady, Watch waved the white flag without making a great deal of effort to make things work. And Channel 5 have the potential to make Richard a fixture in their schedule yet aren't doing so. Think back to 1997, when Channel 5 first began, they'd have bitten a leg off to get Richard and / or Judy on their station.

The 2006 move of Paul O'Grady from ITV to Channel 4 proved the end for them, even though they stayed for a further two years. Paul O'Grady was a big coup for Channel 4 and ratings wise he pulled in 5 million each night, whereas Richard and Judy attracted 2.5-3 million. Paul was and is good friends with them, so I don't think they held any animosity towards Paul for moving his show over after ITV forgot to renew his contract.
