I bet if he had to choose between playing the sax with Gadd, Tee and company...or teaching geography, he would go with the latter. Nothing compares to the excitement of learning where countries/states/cities etc. are located (IMO).

The drum/piano breakdown was a trademark thing of most performances with Gadd and Tee. Watching them interact was magic.

It is interesting. I think Steve only had that thing going with Tee's playing, not even with Chick or others. They match perfectly in emphasis and style in my view.

Tom Scott's intro for his sax solo at 3:23 is pure fire 🔥🔥🔥... and all the way through. He's a legend. I first saw him (and Dave Koz) when thry played in the Pat Sajak Show band (look it up). They were amazing. Great band. Yamaha saxes sound amazing.

I was a Miami drummer 70-80's and that was the sound in clubs with live musicians. We use to carbon these guys I was a Gadd clone. They were the MASTERS they still are. Still hurts!! They do it effortlessly...❤💖❤

Bass player’s shirt and ponytail combo is really something. Takes me back. That weird transition year 1990. I remember thinking to myself ‘wow it’s the 90’s!’ And here we are 33 years later.

Came here from another video. Like with any good, semi-complex music, I didn't fully appreciate it until my 5th listen through, when you start to get the structure and what's coming next. Brilliant. That piano section working it's way up to the incredible sax explosion has a strong classical ascending-descending chord progression, got a little emotional. The relationship between piano and percussion is unreal here.

I feel like I'm too old to hear something life changing. I wish someone had played this for me in the 90's so I could have spent the past 25 years knowing exactly what I wanted to play when I grew up. Tomorrow's practice session I'm learning those changes. I also love the giant smiles on everyone's face, and Tyler the Creator killed it on the congas.

Richard Tee was a genius that was gone too early. His work on Simon and Garfunkel's Concert in Central Park is really amazing. His playing was the soul of that concert.
