One cool reference with Richie seeing the picture of Carmy and Luca - in the episode in Copenhagen, when Luca is talking about chasing a chef knowing he would never be the best, and that made him better, that picture calls out he's referring to Carmy.

This was my favourite episode this season because it showed not only Richie's growth but the fact Carmie was on top of things. Paying attention to everyone’s needs to find their place and purpose in the new restaurant (despite what he believes).

dunno if you guys caught it but this episode tells us (without words) that the incredible chef luca talked about training beside in episode 4 was carmy! the picture also explained some of carmy’s connections. his time at chef terry’s restaurant enabled him to send richie there and also allowed him to send marcus to his old buddy in copenhagen. idk, i just think think it’s really cool to have unasked questions in the show answered in a completely unassuming way; if you get it, you get it. if you don’t, you don’t. such good writing 💛

You start off this episode thinking that “Every Second Counts” is some soulless efficiency at all costs sort of phrase, and by the end you realize how personal and meaningful it is, and that it’s about making the most of yourself in every moment. Damn good writing.
@whatwhatwhatttttt

yes!!! it starts off making you feel like a cog in the machine sort of thing, but then you find out the personal connection of chef terry's dad finding the beauty in mundane, fleeting things like purple sunsets to how she applies it to her life (personally peeling mushrooms). this show's writing is so good

This was probably my favorite episode this season. Having worked in food service with people like Richie who are struggling with their purpose, I cried several times. You rarely get to see those people find their purpose during the time that you're in each other's lives. He's just so precious and the storytelling was so human! So wonderful and inspirational and rewatchable~

So the reason Richie thought that carmie was trying to get rid of him was because the last time they spoke he was arguing with sugar and as sugar walked out she told carmie to “do something about him” and carmie said “I will.” So Richie thinks this is carmie doing something about him lol Richie also told the story at the beginning of the season about the talented kids that left behind their non talented friend and he’s been feeling like sooner or later he will be left behind considering he doesn’t exactly fit a fancy restaurant setting before this episode. Richie seems to think this might be carmie “dropping his ass” or beginning to “drop his ass” by sending him away so he stops getting in the way of projects. Also in richies mind its only a coincidence that he got to shadow and serve customers that day for all he knows he was supposed to be on fork duty for 8 hours a day for a whole week. To be fair they sent everyone else to meaningful places to improve their skills and seemingly sent richie too clean forks for a week to just get him out of the way for a bit. All of that is why it’s so nice when he later in the episode learns that carmie didn’t send him over there for fork duty or too get rid of him but because he knew he had a special skill and was good with people.

It should also be added that the reason Richie had been causing so much trouble at the beginning of the season and trying to be in charge of things he didn’t understand or have experience in was because he was trying too hard to make himself a necessity he was trying to be in charge of everything so he would be irreplaceable and to prove to others and himself that he was on the same level as them. That’s why he got so upset when that didn’t work out for him.

Incredible episode. Loved the growth shown by Richie in just a matter of a week’s time (under the right guidance). Ebon knocked it out of the park this season. Side note: I loved the subtle chemistry between Richie & Chef Jessica (played by the incredible Sarah Ramos). I truly hope her character pops back in Season 3. She could be the new start Richie needs in the romance department, now that stiff has moved on.

I really don’t think she was interested in Richie with those looks: that last one had me believing she was worried for him now that his time at this restaurant is ending and that he might slip back into old, bitter habits; hence the follow up scene with Chef Terry to put a button on the new outlook he leaves this place with
