It's hard to believe that Rick is almost 70 years old. He's so happy-looking and looks to be in great shape! At my school when I was seven or so, there was a catalog to order books from and in it was a creature/horror/makeup/autobiography book talking about Rick, Savini, and the evolution of classic to modern-day horror makeup, design and filming. It is still one of the greatest books I've ever read and my first-ever obsession with a possible career to get into. It's never too late, I suppose. PS FUCK CGI.

When he said that his parents lived long enough to see his success it made me realize how much of a disappointment my life has been to my parents. No pity party. Just brutally honest with myself. I’m happy that he was able to make his parents proud. For him, I’m sure it was validation.

@@rokaanalzeer absolutely ridiculous to think that a guy like Rick has to answer to clueless "producers " about what should go into his art! No wonder why movies suck anymore....

Matthew Roach unfortunately, that’s how the business has always been. The studio and producers always have to be nosy and not let the people they hire do their own job. Look at the justice league situation. Few directors are allowed to do what they want. Chris Nolan and Tarantino are examples of making things their own way.

Just looked thru the many upon many projects done by Rick Baker and I must say that I'm utterly speechless at just how awesome he is at his craft. I remember telling my mom that I wanted to be like Rick Baker and Tom Savini because I just loved horror movies and would be more amazed at behind the scenes than the actual movies themselves. Especially when it came to dvd menus......I always went straight to the makeup lol and watch the masters work 🔥🔥🔥.

Standing proud with ya! Never missed a showing of Octaman in the 70s, even though it meant sleeping in my parent's room that night, since I was so terrified the Octaman was going to emerge from the small pond behind our house. Golden memories and still my favorite film!

To summarize the motion picture industry, basically everything is urgent and rolling with the punches is a prerequisite. Patience is a virtue and a requirement in order to deal with assumptions, incompetence, ego and the ever-changing goalpost known as a project deadline. 😁

I love listening to Baker talk. Pier Angelie was supposed to marry James Dean and they were madly in love but Angelie’s mother was dead set against it since they were Italian and mom was a staunch Catholic and forbid her to marry him. That may have lead to her substance abuse and eventual suicide. She married twice (both Italians) one was Vic Damone and had a kid with him.
