This episode was life changing for me in a literal sense. I watched this whilst on holiday in Portugal last June, and immediately ordered the T-shirt Joe was wearing as a way of supporting MAPS I was wearing the T-shirt whilst walking down the street in London about a year ago, heading for my next train home I got to a street crossing, looked to the person to my left, and it was Rick Doblin himself! We got into a beautiful conversation, photos were taken, and I’ve been working with MAPS ever since. A couple of months ago I was confirmed as their Music Industry Ambassador, and there’s been some beautiful projects and support come from it I still trip out from what happened that day, and can trace it all the way back to this podcast, so thank you Joe, your impact ripples outwards in ways you may never expect or truly know, but it’s truly a service to humanity in a lot of ways ❤️

very true!!! . as someone who struggled with depression and suicidal thoughts and even actions that thank god were stopped by others, I have realized life at its core is just positive and negative energy, and both + and - energy builds from what you give it, if something bad happens to you that either makes you angry, scared, or sad you can either let it get to you and the negative energy will continue to grow and make everything we worse or you can choose to move on and try to make something good out of it and build off of that... I used to be so depressed and I always thought about my struggles and I just got more and more depressed and sure enough more and more bad shit happened until I was so down on life I finally became numb about the bad things in life and I decided to only think about anything good. an example would be I quit my job and sold all my stuff and was going to move to a different state, then I was robbed and instead of dwelling on it and thinking how shitty everything was I accepted I cant move away and immediately looked for a job and I ended up finding a career job and built off of the positives from there... I made a horrible negative thing into a positive... because if I never got robbed I never would have gotten thi s career job... I learned to never get stuck on dwelling about the bad...

For me I felt like I was dying and I was freaking out and I didn’t want to die. I finally let go and a huge geometrical being appeared that was infinite. Every time I looked at any part of him it would go on forever and ever like a whole universe was inside one little cell in his body. He showed me around and I met his family and friends and he took me to places I’ve never seen before. I saw little elves and tons of other stuff. I was honestly so relaxed when I was there that I just accepted that it was my new reality. (Long story short) All of the sudden I just came back like I woke up from a dream and have been thankful ever since to live on earth and be with my family. There’s nothing I wanted more to see my friends and family again and just hug them one last time while I was coming up. The feeling was so over whelming that I noticed how much my family and friends mean to me and what value they hold to me as a person and what I can do better to strengthen relationships. Everything’s not perfect now but it definitely gave me a new outlook and perspective on life

I was once heavy into psychedelics, but I got to a point where I felt I got everything I needed out of them. Even with “bad trips,” I never felt more clarity about the course of my life and my relationships. For anyone considering using any for the first time: respect these substances and surround yourself with people you trust. It can be overwhelming, and I’ve had bad experiences that altered my perception for weeks. But the positives are spectacular, not only as a feeling but as a spiritual experience. P.S. you’ve never heard the beauty of music until you’ve listened while on LSD.

First one I did was mushrooms. A beautiful chocolate blessed by a shaman in Costa Rica. I did a 3day silent fast, set my intentions and had a wonderful experience. Mushrooms and I are good friends. So kind to me. The second was 5meo DMT. This time in Costa Rica. It was such a stunning and profound experience. I didn't ground before but I didn't need to. Somehow I managed to completely surrender to the Universe. I am so eternally grateful for that moment. I do not feel I have to do anything ever again. I didn't seek out 5meo, it found me which I believe is key. The most challenging part is falling back into old emotional patterns. It is a humbling scenario. Having that moment to reflect on helps me remember where I really come from.

Jung and E. F. Edinger spoke of this "group identity" idea the guest was recounting, and referred to it under the alchemical terms of what is called "Solutio", and which is all about how individuals are receiving their Self or "sense of self" from immersion in a group experience. Since Hitler's movement was of course political, the degree that the German people gave their individual powers of choice and identity to the containing social vessel of politics, was also the degree to which their boredom with the Christianized beliefs and the containing vessel of those beliefs - which is that of the religious institutions - had shattered for them and ceased to be effective as it had in past times. Freud had some really cool ideas on group psychology and how it all comes together. This was a great video insofar as the guest speaker was able to relate his visions back into a part of his psyche that he needed to integrate and understand.

We are all wired into a survival trip now. No more of the speed that fueled that 60's. That was the fatal flaw in Tim Leary's trip. He crashed around America selling "consciousness expansion" without ever giving a thought to the grim meat-hook realities that were lying in wait for all the people who took him seriously... All those pathetically eager acid freaks who thought they could buy Peace and Understanding for three bucks a hit. But their loss and failure is ours too. What Leary took down with him was the central illusion of a whole life-style that he helped create... a generation of permanent cripples, failed seekers, who never understood the essential old-mystic fallacy of the Acid Culture: the desperate assumption that somebody... or at least some force - is tending the light at the end of the tunnel.
