I had the pleasure of working with Rick a couple of months ago, and spent nearly an hour chatting with him about concerts I had attended when I was a teenager, an absolute dream come true for me, at 53 years old and sitting with my hero, a rock legend, will never forget, ever.

As an Aussie living in London at the time I was privilaged to attend this concert. To this day it is still very vivid in my mind. To warm up the audience he played excerpts from Six Wives followed by the main feature which was performed on ice. Then for an encore he went into Journey to the centre of the earth. It was a late night and only one train was left at the station, it was packed Tokyo style. Great memories. Jack.

Rick Wakeman is the best and he's one of a kind. This has been one of my favourite albums since I was eight years old and discovered the LP amongst my much older siblings' music collection (which I still have - I must try to wrangle his autograph this fall). I am so glad to see footage of the original performance. Thank you Patrickillian for uploading this.

I love this album. I had the original on 33 back in the day. Man I played that thing over and over. The late 1970's was a great time of Aurthurian / fantasy resurgence. Between this album, the movie Excalibur and the renewed interest in LOTR I was in heaven.

I've met this guy a few times and can assure you Rick Wakeman is indeed a genuine and nice person. He inspired me so much it was he who made me go out and spend a lot of money on decent keyboards and learn to play. I;ve had to favurite this on the basis of it still being so absurd! LOL! Love him though.

Disliking his music is up to you, but there's no reason to dislike Rick himself. If you did some research about Rick you'd find that he's a really nice guy with a good sense of humor. Not only that, nearly every penny he's ever earned has gone back into music. That's why he's gone bankrupt several times to the point where he had to sleep on park benches because he didn't have enough money to pay his bills. Music is that important to him. So if you don't respect his music at least respect him.

That triple-neck bass was made by Wal for Roger Newell when he played in Rick Wakeman's English Rock Ensemble. A replica was made for Chris Squire which he used from 1977 until the last Yes tour in 2004. Squire only played it on the Yes song "Awaken".

Back then such extravagant live performances were horrendously difficult to get the sound to balance. The singers were on the original recording. Very competent, but I doubt if they could hear themselves over everything else. Remember this was ground breaking stuff back in the 70's.
