It's nice that Judy picks her nose and wipes it on her blouse moments before the end of the show

Interesting in retrospect that a huge part of Extras series 2 is about slagging off The Catherine Tate Show.

@@Theponderpond The herd of morons that make up the When the Whistle Blows audience are shown wearing shirts with popular comedy catchphrases of the day. Going by other interviews Gervais was giving at the time, in which he constantly complained how Britain was now lagging behind America at making good comedy, I don't think it was meant as a light-hearted joshing. To be fair, I quite like it when comedians take proper pot shots at each other, but Gervais is such a showbiz phoney here.

JHmagic1 Although it was nonsense, I kind of admired Gervais for touting himself as somehow separate from or above everything else that was going on in British comedy in the 2000s. Frankie Boyle lost the plot in a similar way when he flounced off Mock the Week and then presented us with Tramadol Nights, although he’s reined himself in again now. Similarly, I got a bit of a perverse thrill out of Rory McGrath declaring Fawlty Towers to be “appallingly bad” or when Lee Hurst uses his Alf Garnett Twitter account to have a go at someone like Eddie Izzard. When a comic isolates themselves from all their peers, it’s quite a sight.

That is the first episode chronilogically, but they aired the Ben Stiller episode first to get more ratings
