Getting the layout ready for our granddaughter's visit! Of course, everything is in an uproar on the layout. If it's not under construction, then it's torn apart in getting ready. There are a few areas that are complete: Brooklyn; the subway station under Grand Central Terminal in Midtown; a few skyscrapers, and some concrete in Midtown and adjacent approaches. Fortunately, all the lines run . . . and there is at least something complete everywhere else.
Today, in preparation for the visit, I was putting some additional completed buildings on the layout (temporarily, but this also helps me with planning). In these videos, half of the elevated is pulled down so I can get into areas I need to. The other half is running in the video with an auto-reverse circuit. The removed elevated will be going back up again temporarily for when my granddaughter visits this coming weekend. Of course, at the end of the day today, it was fun to run some trains and take a couple videos.
The first video is a ride at the front of the first car on subway line 2 (there are 4 lines in total). A full circuit of line 2 takes about 2 1/4 minutes (a scale 1.5 miles at 40 mph). At the 15 second mark, you see the container of superglue I misplaced earlier! 😁 At the end of the video, you see me holding up my iPhone to get a panoramic video of all 4 subway lines running. The next video is that panoramic video I was taking with my iPhone. Not great cinematography, but it's fun! I'll take more pics and videos when I'm finished getting it all ready for their visit. Enjoy!
