Had same thing happen. Second job worked then 5 minutes in stopped working. My last Rigid drill lasted 20 years. What does that tell you

Just bought the same kit; Octane impact and hammer drill driver. Haven't used the impact. But first time out, tried to put 3 inch screws into 4x4s for a deck project. Yeah... Simple. Right? ---Wrong. Ridgid Octane drill driver (1300 inch pounds of torque) couldn't manage to make the heads of those very common 3 inch screws touch the wood. Every single screw-head only got within 1/4 inch of the surface. The clutch or cam, 'breaks' and 'ratchets' WAY too soon ---on its strongest setting. This is a totally new drill. --Oh, and the 'new' batteries lost half their charge just sitting on a shelf doing nothing for 3 days. Had to recharge everything, first, so I could be disappointed properly. But meanwhile, my 8 year old Makita hammer drill driver, with eight year old batteries to match, can still EASILY bury the same screw heads an inch into those 4x4s on setting '12'. It's got 21.... Ridged. ... Nope. Never again. I got a better idea. YOU buy the Ridged. So that when I go back to Home Depot to exchange this kid's toy for a real drill, it won't turn out that you or somebody else just walked off with the last Milwaukee in stock. Because that's what I'm eyeing next.

The chuck on my hammer drill got stuck after one year of use, I did a lot of concrete mixing which probably clogged it. Thinking of switching to Makita because I see most contractors and tool rentals use this brand.

My drill driver broke after a couple uses, felling gutted as I bought it used but new in the box and have no LTSA. During the last several months Iv bought many Ridgid tools and I’m kind of regretting it even though I bought them from HD. Really not sure how I feel about Ridgid anymore if a new drill doesn’t even last 6 months with minimal use. Though Ridgid we’re as tough as the more popular brands.

Shit happens. I could understand being disappointed but things like this are just shit luck. My Milwaukee M18 drill stopped working 2 days after purchase due to a faulty trigger. Had nothing to do with quality but shit luck. I exchanged the drill combo kit for a Rigid just because I wanted to save $200.

Rigid has a lifetime warranty....why didnt you register your tools on their webpage...... they stand behind their products ( I own three rigid drills & one compact driver ).I've had two drills over the years fail and Rigid has replaced both of them, one was a discontunued model so they sent me an upgraded model which is awesome.

Where were you and your good advice and 2009 lol I still have the original receipt but never registered. I just figured if you had the original receipt they would be covered. But nope You've got to have them registered in order to have lifetime warranty I feel like a dumbass. But I also thought I was buying a lifetime warranty. I still got the freaking receipt in excellent shape I kept it in a sealed Ziploc. Lesson learned.

Mine did the same thing.... I took all the screws out and pulled it apart. I hooked a battery up and still the same thing... the light was coming on but the motor wasn’t moving. I tried to turn the motor by hand as I squeezed the trigger and the drill started working 🤷♂️ the motor was just stuck. If it happens again I’ll try to turn the motor without taking it apart. Hope this helps someone 🤙

Why it is no fun to get a defective product, one bad sample doesn't make for a bad product. Ridgid has great warranty and most stores will take it back and replace or refund.

my rigid impact is 10 years old now in 2023 and sounds way better and runs way faster than your new one. my drill works great too. my combo kit was a drill, an impact driver, a radio, two batteries, a charger and a case for 199. original batteries still work great, i've dropped both tools off of ladders onto concrete floors multiple times, no issues. mine say they are made by One world technologies. idk. i hate to see these videos because i love the brand, also i have a ton of milwaukee. i steered away from dewalt because i knew a contractor who said, their not the same as they were in the 90's and always breaking. i was dewalt fan boy. hopefully i'm just lucky. that not usually the case, but maybe with tools it is.

Anecdotal, every color builds a pos occasionally. My orange and black work great. Used the LSA on the drill driver, new one with no hassle. It was at least 10 years old and used hard.

This usually never happens. Sad to see that. I have a 12v drill driver and 18v impact driver from rigid and they both work perfectly. They are great products but their warranty is just bs. I prefer rigid but another great power drill would be Milwaukee

The 12v is basically for DIY/household projects. The 18v is a step above and can be used in harder workplaces like construction. I’m not a professional or anything but these drills are nice. All I really need is the 12v drill driver and the 18v impact driver. I work on cars as well so the impact driver really helps me in the engine bay.

One out of how many hundreds, if not thousands that are produced and this one's so happens to have a faulty manufacturer defect. I feel your pain. These are some pretty rugged tools. The battery warranty is priceless, their customer is impeccable. They will do anything and everything to make it right. they always have. This happens to me quite often with tools, Electronics. Sorry you had to experience the bum tool.
