The electric brake is a great feature. I once had to get my index and middle finger stitced( blade guard got jammed, and didn't go back down). Never thought It'd happen to me, but it happened so fast. I made sure I fixed the guard next time I used the saw.

I really enjoy all the reviews you do... I wanted to mention 3 issues that I personally experienced with this saw and I want to know if u noticed them as well. 1 the machining on the depth stop is not correct therefore not allowing the blade to completely cut through material... 2 the depth stop screw is drilled and tapped at an angle not allowing the screw to go through the stop if you have the bolt all the way down. 3 if you try to bevel cut to the right at a 45° on a 2 by material the motor housing will hit the board before the blade cuts the material through. A video of this would be awesome

For those having trouble with the blade not cutting completely through I have found a solution. Upon examing my saw i found if I pressed down just a bit I could get through that back corner. So I got to looking and the problem seems to be in the depth stop landing on the side of the saw. I thought of just removing it, but instead I took a small fine flat file and ground down the landing about 1mm. After doing this i tested the saw and was able to make full cuts without issue. Hope this helps.

Is there a way to calibrate the saw to an exact 90 degrees? Some saws allow you to loosen a couple of allen bolts to adjust the fence for squareness to the blade - factory setting are usually less than perfect.

Per your review I went out and bought this little beast. I had a question though. When I start it up and let it run for a good 2-3 sec there is this sound coming from the saw like a rattle of the eletric brake. Just wondering if yours does that as well. Or does it run completely smooth until you let the trigger go?
@RealToolReviews
7 жыл бұрын
There is a slight sound when free-spinning.....I have verified this with multiple units & seems to be 100% normal. Be sure and register it for your LSA agreement within 90-days of purchase.....so if something ever does break, it will be covered for free.

Wow that blade stops fast, amazing technology. One of my older miter saws will spin for 10 seconds after releasing the trigger, I know not the safest tool lol. I wonder if they are using a regenerative brake to convert some of that energy back into the battery. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Regenerative_brake

I would have thought it was going to have much more run time cuts than the Gen5x Brushless Circular Saw on that 5.0ah battery. Maybe there is a stronger motor on the 18v Brushless miter than the Brushless Circ?
@RealToolReviews

During runtime tests on circular saws we don't let off the trigger.......but with miter saws I let the motor come to a complete stop after each cut. That takes extra power to bring the blade back up to speed each time.

I just bought this saw. I'm very pleased Other Then; it the blade doesn't seem to slide back far enough to cut all the way through. it lease a very small piece of uncut material in the back lower corner. small enough to be cleaned up with my utility knife but annoying to have to shave off of every single cut. I tried moving the fence forward but wasn't enough play to fix this.

I wanted this saw but home depot doesn't carry it anymore. Had to buy a dewalt. I have all dewalt 20v and 60v anyway so it works out. Dewalt one is awesome but doesn't have the double bevele, the only reason I got it is because I hate caring the 12 inch saw and this little one I can easily put in my truck cab .
@brandondierwechter2492
6 жыл бұрын
My only complaint is that since it doesn't have very deep cut capacity, I'm stuck using the bevel, which I noticed isn't very accurate and the light that casts a shadow on the blade isn't accurate to where the blade makes the cut at those bevels. With the blade in the 0 degree bevel position, the miter cuts and square cuts are pretty accurate.

@RealToolReviews

The biggest difference you’ll notice with ANY saw is to put a high quality blade on it with fine teeth. Immediately swap out the factory blade with a new Diablo. Also, bigger saws have more deflection……so many times a 12” saw won’t have as nice of a precise cut as a 10”….. or in this case a 7-1/4”. Many factors to consider, but given your needs with fairly small cuts, the 7-1/4” should be fine.

Please help, I can't find this to buy on Home depot website or in store. I have emailed Ridgid and they don't care and just sent me a canned response that I need to check with Home Depot to order something. Do you have access to Ridgid people and could ask if they will start selling R48607K again soon in Home Depot or will they release a new model of cordless dual bevel Miter saw soon? I only found the item from unofficial resellers on Ebay/Amazon, but it's double the original cost at $399 from them, and tool will not have warranty if you buy it from those types of sellers. thanks

I assume this has been discontinued. You are correct, unless you buy it direct from Home Depot only -- you will not qualify for the LSA. I suggest waiting until they have another release of them, or looking at some of the other RIDGID saws....that way you would still qualify!

I'm a trim carpenter and this saw was the one I wanted once I decided I wanted to use something other than my 12 inch dewalt. Of course, Ridgid decided to shitcan this saw right as I started shopping. I wound up spending a ton more money on the Milwaukee because the dewalt is a toy and single bevel. The Cobalt also has issues with a gritty rail and the corded and battery saws aren't the same. Only one is dual bevel. Plus, I do not trust that cobalt batteries will be available in 3 to 5 years.

I love my Ridgid 12 inch slider, but it is a bear to move around even with the mobile stand. I can think of hundreds of situations/projects where this setup would have been the more practical choice. Thank you for the review and compelling argument. However, I am still waiting to see how Dewalt performs before investing.
