Have you tested lowering the center of gravity by sliding saw all the way to the wheel side for upright storage to try and solve the balance issue? Storage trays appear to be easily removed. If trays were removed are there any other obstructions that look like they would impede the saw from sliding further in either direction? Very interested in this saw stand but the balance issue is rather unfortunate if no way to mitigate.

Appreciate the trial runs. I’ve got a 12” non-sliding saw that’s no daisy in the weight category. You proved that lowering does help it enough to just barely become trustworthy. Final Insurance policy for me is going to be a couple short friction fit or set screw extensions on the two protrusions that contact the floor. I’m thinking a couple inches max will either level it or give it just enough lean back the other way. Thanks!

Took over a job for someone as the contractor "left" town..lol. This was the stand to use upon my arrival. Appreciate the time you took to give us a demo. I was cautious about extending the legs and lifting from the other end; as I thought they would bend etc. Thank you....

Two possible ideas to help it standing upright. 1) has the right side roller fully extended? This will give it a bigger foot print to prevent it from tipping over; 2) Lower the saw (or move the saw to the furthest right when it is horizontal). This will lower the center of gravity closer to the ground. With the saw at the center or at the far left this will move the center of gravity higher when standing, therefore, more tipsy. Otherwise thanks for the video. Much appreciated.

Had my eyes on this stand for about a year then HD seemed to have pulled it from the shelves. It showed up this weekend on DTO for 79$ so I purchased instantly. I own the larger Ridgid MSUV stand and 12" Ridgid slider and it's incredibly stable it's just not practical in terms of portability. I also own the 18v 7.25" sliding Ridgid saw and this stand seems like the perfect companion in it's size and portability. 👍
@WrongTimeWatch

I totally agree. It seems like this stand is not really made to be portable with the large 12" sliding miter saws. It works perfectly fine when opened up, but trying to move this stand around when folded up, is not easy. Also, it is not possible to store this stand in the upright position with the saw still attached.

@@WrongTimeWatch this video is a year old now. Did you stick with this stand or did you move on to something else? I noticed in the comments to place the saw on a 45° angle. I will say with the bigger Ridgid MSUV stand and the older behemoth 12" slider this is a must to lock the saw at 45° when storing upright. I also pull the saw all the way forward on the slide rails and lock it in that way. Stability is much greater.

Yes, I still have it, I tried everything with my Chicago Electric 12" sliding compound miter saw and it still wants to tip over. I might eventually buy a different miter saw, but for now still using this set up.

While this is claimed to be "compatible" with 12" miter saws, because of the narrow spacing of the two top support bars, it's going to have more play than most users would want if a 12" saw is installed. It'd be perfect for a 7.5" saw, and OK for a 10" saw. But if you're going to use a 12" saw, get the larger version.
@WrongTimeWatch

This stand works well enough for me during use, but the fact that I can't store the saw on the stand when it is folded up is a bummer. I have thought about buying a smaller miter saw to use with this stand, but I have not gotten around to that yet.
@richardefriend

@@WrongTimeWatch Have you tried setting the miter to the highest angle (probably towards the bottom) to get better stability. That's how I store my Ridgid R4222 on the larger Ridgis Stand )at about 60 degrees). It also reduces width by a whole lot, so it's easier to move through narrower openings.

@@richardefriendit would probably also help with stability to scoot the miter saw as close to the wheels as possible. That way, when standing the stand up, the miter saw is close to the ground. I believe that’ll make it harder for it to want to tip over.

I wonder if you could extend the roller, that doubles as the legs that sits on the ground, just an inch or two before you change the position. It could change the angle that it rests at and make it less wobbly.
@WrongTimeWatch

That is a good point. I had briefly thought about that, but I was concerned about the weight of the saw and stand on the lever that locks the roller arm in place. It might still be worth trying though.
