Welcome to Germany - here this law basically applies to every road "pointless driving is forbidden", i.e. going back and forth multiple times on any given road, however this had only actually been inforced when you were going through populated areas, due to the noise potentially annoying the locals, but according to newspapers lawmakers want to strengthen this law .... needless to say that I consider that law total garbage: we pay our road taxes, we pay insurance and we have to comply with noise level restrictions, so if these restrictions aren't enough why is that we get punished for it ... I hope you might be able to reverse that rule via a petition or something. Get together bikers and stand strong!
@FirstClassCitizen_

Kai Yao tough to fight a local municipality as they will ignore anyone who doesn’t live the city or zip code of the general area. Especially since it’s not a major street/thorough way for commuting. It doesn’t affect anyone except the riders who go up and down it repeatedly. Cops aren’t stupid, as they wouldn’t target a local in a minivan. Just the throngs of motorcyclists and sports cars that drive it up and down all afternoon. There are plenty of ordinances around the country that use similar language to prevent and deter “cruising” so I highly doubt this law would be overturned.
@kaiyao2766
5 жыл бұрын
@@FirstClassCitizen_ I understand, yet I still feel like riders should do something to prevent laws/rules/regulations such as these where noise regulations and the vehicle code are not violated. Banning people from practising their ridings on the streets while being safe (enough) or simply having fun. Noone is arguing that exhausts louder than aeroplanes and wreckless riding should be condemned but simply banning everyone who wants to ride a road multiple times is wrong in my opinion. Should it not be enough to have law enforcement frequent 'popular' rodes to ensure noone is endangering or needlessly annoying their fellow citizens.
@Chris675R
5 жыл бұрын
I know that law, because I'm living in Germany. But it only applies within the boundaries of a city (innerorts). Outside of a city you can go up and down a road as much as you like, in theory. If any residents nearby feal annoyed by you (even outside the boundaries of a city) they can call the cops on you and they can send you away (Platzverweis). So you're not save anywhere. The reason I ride up and down on certain roads is simple: there are only a few fun roads here which are not overcrowded and are open for bikers. So I ride this fun stretch of tarmac a couple of times, but then I move on, because I don't want to get the attention of anyone. Sadly those roads are getting less and less every year due to different reasons.
@kaiyao2766
5 жыл бұрын
@@Chris675R The takeaway positve really seems to be that I have never personally heard of those laws being enforced strongly and without good reason. Still, I feel somewhat worried that laws exist that could be interpreteted to ban riding for fun entirely. I'm thinking of the recent additions to German law, where 'racing against the clock' or 'racing against an imagined opponent' is also illegal, which basically disallows riding a certain stretch of road multiple times in order to improve your riding. For now, I think your approach is one of the best.

I agree with the previous commenter that there really isn't any reason to be riding the snake a ton of times in a single session. To be fair, it is one of the few roads in Malibu that is highly technical and more likely to be clear of sand and/or debris than other roads in the area. A lot of the other nice roads in Malibu have much wider, higher speed turns where it would be fairly easy to lose your license or get a $1000+ fine for casually pushing it. You can push your limits on Mulholland without going 2x the speed limit. To be fair though, I have really only gotten ticketed myself and seen cops out clocking people on Mulholland on the weekend and at the end of the month. If you avoid these times you can pretty much have all of Malibu to yourself. I much prefer Stunt, Piuma, and Kanan to the Snake. Way less asshats crossing the doubles. I have only lived here for about a year or so though, so I am open to advice from other riders on how to best ride quickly while avoiding the cops in this area.

Years later they started complaining about that, eventually it was torn down. Pretty much same scernio and hopefully the CHP won't really go out their way to enforce that ridiculous law.

The ranking peace officer on duty within any area affected by traffic congestion may, having determined that such area is so affected, establish one or more traffic control points at or near such area to regulate cruising. Cruising is defined to mean the driving of a motor vehicle two or more times within a six-hour period, in a particular direction, past a traffic control point so established on a portion of any street identified as subject to cruising controls by signs posted at the beginning and end of the controlled roadway that briefly and clearly state the appropriate provisions of this section and Section 21100(k) of the Vehicle Code, and after the operator of the vehicle, either as the operator or passenger therein, has been given the notice specified in this section. The ranking peace officer on duty within, or near, the area affected by traffic congestion, or his designee, shall be empowered to post the signs required by this section. B. @jeff deathrage I think you fell to many times. Wtf is this gibberish you wrote. Idiots like you want to tear up a section of road. Spill bikes all over it, act a fool, ruin it for other riders, then claim its everyone else trying to hold you down.

Ridiculous! So hooning up once is ok but riding normally twice isn't!? I don't know how these additional rules get passed when speed, careless use etc etc are all already offences

It's a construction zone dude! They are trying (temporarily) to reduce the number of vehicles getting in the way of the construction workers and equipment. I'm not from California, don't care for the place at all, own three motorcycles and tend to be very libertarian, but having worked construction in my life and dodged cars and trucks, I get it. Take a deep breath. You will survive until the construction is finished.

How are they going to establish identity of the rider if its a full face helmet. Can 1/2/3 or more riders riding the same bike do 6 separate trips past the sign?

It's there to stop the nuisance caused by people driving there over and over again I'd think. Those motorcycles are obnoxiously loud. Although the once every 6 hours is kinda arbitrary. Once every hour would suffice.

I would respect the "letter of the law" on that law . . . .if and when the actual residents/locals on that road are ticketed for doing that. Because otherwise its like many of these "for the community" laws on the books. Its a law designed to be ignored by everyone . . . right up untill a cop WANTS to find something because he doesnt like something else you're doing

Had a buddy crash on Highway 9 in Saratoga. Almost killed him. He was in the hospital for a while. There were young riders killing themselves all the time on Highway 9 - it leads to Alice's Restaurant (yeah that one) and Redwood, CA where Neil Young lives. Or used to. First time a rider died in my front yard I'd be outta there. I've ridden on Highway 9 and seen riders going fast, real fast - in the wrong lane - around blind corners in the wrong lane No freaking thank you I'm sure this ride in the video is no different. There are homes all along Highway 9. People are stupid. Can you be sued if someone crashes on your property? Oh hell yeah. I'm surprised they can sell homes on these types of roads, everyone knows about the freaking idiots. . . .

The other thing to enforcing this law it would be time consuming and expensive to have it maned by the police all the time with a camera to prove the rider/car have been through there or they could put speed cameras with rego recognition software which would be a bitch.

Hi, I don't think u really understand, I doubt it, I remember the vid after the great Mulholland burning, when some neighbor was shouting to u leave the area, u comment was "oh, yes I do". U pay tax for using the streets with ur vehicles ! In Europe it would be impossible, yes they may close a street frequently, because of too much accidents, but streets are made with tax money, and since every driver pays tax for using his vehicle, no one can order u how often u are allowed to use the road (as long it is not a private road). There is no way private people can block a street for them self. May be in the US, but usually not ! The street is for all, and if someone lives there & they don't like others, it's their problem.
@nickvandervegt

Appreciate your opinion but just to clarify, the person that asked me to leave in the Mulholland fire video was a Park Ranger. The area was in a state of emergency, hence why the park was closed, and I was asked to leave. There weren’t any signs posted saying the area was closed, hence why I went exploring. I’m aware of the taxes situation and it being a public road. That’s why I made the video to begin with haha
