Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays Everyone! I hope Ducy Claus was good to everyone and that you all have been good guys/gals and actually got something from him that wasn't a lump or. coal or a can of smelly old diesel fuel!
In case you haven't been paying attention, my channel has recently hit 6,000 subscribers, and being that my channel was also originally created on December 25th, 2014, I also want to tell everyone from the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU for watching and supporting over the last 8 years!
Because of this though, you guys are deserving of a VERY BIG PRESENT from me, and we need to CELEBRATE, and we need to do so with something EPIC! And I figured, Why not with NOT ONE, NOT TWO but THREE Historic Manually Controlled Elevators, each located just a few blocks away from one another in Downtown Toronto!
Each of these three Elevators were absolutely AMAZING in there own way, and all 3 of them are a MUST SEE if you are ever in Toronto!
You guys deserve this for how loyal you've been and I really can't thank you guys enough, and because of this, I didn't want to sell you guys short, which is why we're riding 3 Manually Controlled Elevators! ;)
Below are some facts about each elevator:
The first elevator we ride in this video is a Turnbull Elevator from 1924, located at 600 Bay Street. This elevator is the newest of the 3, but it is definitely the rarest of them all. Unfortunately I didn't get to see the Machine Room or anything behind the scenes for this elevator like some other users have, but we still get a ride on it! The outside door is really cool and I LOVE the crank on this elevator! It's VERY Different from other ones I've seen. The cab is probably the most beat up and least attractive of the 3, but this elevator very much makes up for that due to its sheer RARITY and Uniqueness and Character! All in all, an absolutely AMAZING & VERY RARE Elevator!
Installed in 1924.
The next elevator in the video is a Manually Controlled Otis Fensom Elevator from 1892, located at 2 College Street. This BY FAR has the nicest cab of the 3 as both the cab and the shaft are COMPLETELY Caged and offer nice views while going up and down! The red birdcaged cab very much gives the fact this elevator was installed right before the turn of the century away, and looks absolutely ancient and incredible! And even though this elevator is 130 YEARS OLD, it is holding up REMARKABLY WELL and it's VERY Smooth and Quiet considering it's age! I love the. look of the crank too! And while this technically isn't the oldest elevator of the 3, it's pretty close, and definitely my favorite of the 3 as it is the most original with the cab and everything!
Installed in 1892.
And lastly, we ride the elevator at the Gooderham Flatiron Building! This elevator is also an Otis Fensom from 1892, and this elevator is said to be the Oldest Elevator in all of Toronto! According to the operator who took us on, the cab was apparently redone at some point, but aside from that, this thing is TOTALLY ORIGINAL from when it was installed nearly 131 YEARS AGO and it's obvious that the owners really care about it and have a lot of pride for it! It runs BEAUTIFULLY too! All in all, just an absolutely INCREDIBLE Elevator and even though this elevator may technically be newer than the one at the Plant in Tampa, the machinery on that elevator was replaced in the 1920s. This elevator on the other hand features it's original 1892 machinery and despite that is VERY Fast and Smooth! Words cannot describe how EPIC this elevator was, and I'm not going to say anymore cause I know you guys are here to see the video!
Installed in 1892.
With that all being said, I hope you guys enjoy my rides on ALL 3 of these AMAZING Manually Controlled Elevators, I hope you all have a Wonderful & Safe Holiday, thank you all so much for 6,000 SUBSCRIBERS and 8 YEARS on KZitem, and let me know which one is your favorite and why in the comments below!
