I've only seen this once before, it was in Tahoe during a winter storm and he was freezing. I had one of those zippo personal heaters and a couple heat packs, so when we stopped I walked up to him and after him being caught off guard he realized I was trying to save his life, and graciously accepted them and asked if I would follow him to where he was staying in case. Was an awesome old dude with the biggest ice beard I've ever seen after that ride😂😂

You must not be a rider. Most riders who ride over 20,000 miles a year aren't riding in the snow. I guarantee this guy is not riding nowhere close to that many miles a year. He lives in Alaska and he rigged his bike to ride, good for him, but it would be impressive if he was using only two wheels with spikes, not a handicap, and I am a rider with over 40 years of riding in storms and everything.

I know a guy in Fairbanks (thats 360 miles north of Anchorage) that rides without a 3rd wheel in the winter. Its a January 1st tradition for him, so he can say he was the first one to ride that year. He use to just wrap a nylon rope around both tires and drive the 30 mile into Fairbanks. He now has switched to studded tires which he claims is not as good as the rope 😆

I can relate. For years I only had a motorcycle, I rode in any weather, any time of the year, it wasn't because I couldn't afford a car it was because for some reason I just didn't feel comfortable driving a car. It wasn't until I was 26, after going on a rode trip across multiple states, getting attacked by bees, stuck in multiple severe thunderstorms, getting badly sun burned, & having the starter completely break on the bike, making me have to push start it every time I stopped anywhere during the trip... I finally decided I wanted a car & bought one about a month later. But sometimes now I almost miss only having a motorcycle, it was fun in a way. Plus it is a lot cheaper, so much of your money goes into owning a car, maintenance, gas, insurance is so much more for a car vs a motorcycle, it used to be very easy to save up money while only owning a motorcycle. But sitting in a heated car in the winter when it's something like -5F is so much nicer than not being able to feel my fingers on a motorcycle, used to have to use a hair dryer to even get the bike started when it was that cold out >.>

As a lifetime Biker. Let me tell you that this is insane level of commitment and skill. A bike on snow and ice is crazy impossible just to stay upright. Now add in the windchill effect on the rider. Completely exposed and it doesn’t look like he has a fairing or windshield. So dude is riding in snow. Temperature is at least 31 degrees. @45 mph he is experiencing 13 degrees on his body, hands, arms, neck and face. While riding on the road in traffic. 30 mins exposure to this will result in frostbite. The hardest part is the numbing sensation in your hands and face neck. After about 15 mins you start to lose feeling in your hands and fingers. Making steering, braking and clutching extremely difficult. On a scale of 1 to 10. This is a 100…

I use to ride all year long. I also use to road race. One year I flew out to California and rented the then new Honda Goldwing 1800. My wife’s sisters picked us up at the airport and instead of taking off, we left late. We get up to Kings Canyon National Park, 7k feet up, it’s 25 degrees and there is snow and ice all over the road. I went for it, saw three cars in the four hours up there. ( rode three thousand miles in four days ) What I didn’t see was the shear drop offs in the pitch black that I certainly noticed a few years later during another trip. I may have thought twice, but when you ride in conditions like that you certainly have to have a commitment to your riding and certainly have some idea of what you are doing. Having doubts is never a good idea when doing anything remotely risky.
