Wow! This video brings back memories from my childhood. This is the first car I can remember riding in. My dad bought the car new, ours was the same color as this car and was a 4 door. The standard transmission whine, floor shift, standard "H" pattern, the dash board, the radio with the round dial which my dad and I listened to the U of M, {Go Blue}, football games on WJR, 760 AM Detroit, the open cowl vent sticking up below the W/S wipers, for fresh air, {which caused a cloud of dust from blowing off the floor mat} and the locking steering column ignition, and depressing the accelerator engaged the starter. There's much more, but that's it for now! Thanks for posting this video. 👌👍

I had 40 special.. loved it. Interior camera shot reminds me of how small the dashboard is. Can’t even find a spot to lay a pencil.

+sevencorsa I won't be able to attend this coming Sunday, because I'm going to Charlotte, North Carolina. I'll be back at Automobile Driving Museum on February 7th.

I had a 38 Buick Special 4-door sedan like this one when i was in high school and kept it 22 years. I sold it to get a 1940 Limited but I wish I'd kept the 38. I'd of had it 52 years by now.

Must have been something to be driving/ riding in it on the streets and roads of the time. The country was 4 years from going to war.

This car has been converted to a push button start. Normally a Buick starts when the ignition is turned on and the driver fully depresses the accelerator pedal.

You noticed that, too. I was looking for it when the driver started the car.

It's got a starter button. Starter's supposed to be in the gas pedal.

The 1938 Roadmaster convertible coupe did have leather seats. The closed cars all had Bedford cord or woolen broadcloth.
