Beautiful circular excursion retracing the military walkways of the First World War.
Fascinating itinerary both for the wonderful panorama and for the cultural and historical aspect of the sites visited.
On the way out, you will walk on the Kaiserjäger path - equipped path - where along the way you will
they constantly encounter remains of the First World War relating to the Austrian front. On reaching the summit of the Piccolo Lagazuoi, at an altitude of 2772 m, there is a crucifix in memory of all the fallen of the war. Usually we stop here, not only to rest, but also to enjoy the landscape of the surrounding mountains. Upon returning, you will walk through the tunnels of the Italian front dug by the Alpine troops. Along the way there are explanatory signs.
ITINERARY
From the parking area of the Falzarego pass 2105 m, go up on path 402 to the junction for the equipped path Kaiserjägersteig. Here you go left and go up the aided path to the top of Piccolo Lagazuoi 2772 m and finally descend to Rifugio Lagazuoi 2752 m. To return to the starting point, go down to the cable car station; here begins the guaranteed descent, which, passing between trenches, leads to the entrance to the tunnel. Through the tunnels you go down quickly and then take the path 402 that leads to the Falzarego Pass.
