Ollie -- the fellow's a breath of fresh air and very natural in front of the camera. Jerusalem obviously contains notes that a set of bells doesn't and so the nearest sufficed. Very well done Mr Ringer.....

Brilliant video Richard, very funny 😂 Ollie is such a great guy. To hear Jerusalem played on church bells was totally surreal. Wouldn't it be great to hear all churches ringing out Jerusalem on a Sunday morning.

Ollie I don't know how you put up with him...hope he treated you to lunch after this 😄. Interesting story about the churches. Whittington near me has the Ellacombe but I doubt anyone will be ringing it as they have no ringers and we have a tower open day on 26th. Lovely to hear the bells at last, we have just started up ringing in Ellesmere and even though it sounds not dissimilar to someone dropping the dishes we have had so many reports from the locals delighted to hear the bells again 🔔🔔🔔🔔🔔🔔🔔🔔

Now we are talking!! Thank you for coming to what is a beautiful part of East Sussex. My mother and her 10 siblings were evacuated to Hartfield from London with their mother, during WW2. Eighty years later I live just round the corner. You showed the Pooh Bear shop, but didn’t mention he lived around the corner with his creator, A A Milne, whose house was sold to one of the Rolling Stones!! 👍👍👍👍👍

Lovely video Richard. My Late Nan was born in The Gallipot & used to play with Christopher Robin in the pub garden. She also played, what became known as Pooh Sticks with him too. She claimed AA Milne never had to buy a pint. Not cause he was tight or scrounger, but as soon anyone knew who he was, they bought him a pint. The distant family graves are in the church graveyard. She remembered ALL the eligible (& some not) young men in the village marching off, together down the road, to war in 1914 - not one of them came back. In the Gallipot they used to host evenings for the Guinea Pig Club after WW II. For the burns survivors, being treated at East Grinstead Hospital. In the early days of Plastic Surgery. She always very emotional talking about the men coming home & those who didn’t.

Continuing my comment below, Ollie seeming short of information in Hartfield was just a clever act. As once in the other parish he opened up as guide to the rival church, and demonstrated the versatility of the chiming system. He definitely chimed with Richard and those following. More please, and another song or hymn played with the bells.

Dear Ollie, We have a lovely Daughter Katie who is almost 14, If you are willing to wait a few years you two would make a perfect couple. Stranger things have happened and an old friend of the Family who owns much of Alfriston did meet on a swap of notes between Sergeants. (This is my Son... This is my Daughter) You two are indeed COMEDY GOLD. Richard goes off and changes his name to STANLEY. Love as always David and Lily. Reading.
