So, it's Peter Sellers and Ringo Starr talking to John Cleese, with a soundtrack by Badfinger produced and written by Paul McCartney. If this clip got any more British it'll start invading and arbitrarily dividing up Africa.

I think you could argue that RIngo's acting is much like his drumming. He's clearly in the company of incandescent brilliance but he manages to move the song or scene along, adding touches that are uniquely his. He more than holds his own without ever showing up the superstars or becoming the focus.

Here’s a sample Amazon review of this film. Pretty much sums up its genius: “I was just saying to my wife recently that I’d always longed to see a film where Laurence Harvey does a striptease while performing Hamlet, a transvestite Yul Brynner sings ‘Mad About The Boy’ on a cruise ship, a galley of naked females are whipped by Raquel Welch and a bunch of bowler-hatted businessmen dive into a huge vat of excrement (mixed with blood & urine) in order to extract thousands of soiled bank notes. With a theme song written by Paul McCartney, choreography by Lionel Blair and various Goons and Pythons thrown in to boot. My wife told me I had an over-active imagination and advised me to stop taking the tablets. But then I happened upon this peculiarity…huzza!”

Ringo was - and is - an insanely great drummer. He just has never been a show off with his drumming, but those little fills in so many Beatles records show his mastery and his great instincts. Btw this is an hilarious movie where Ringo holds his own with Peter Sellers as a comic acted

After watching Ringo in this movie, I am now tearing my hair out that they didn't make a "Bored of the Rings" movie right after the book came out and cast him as the Aragorn parody.

I met Peter Sellers in 1972 at a truck stop in Bakersfield, Calif. and he is just the nicest man. Quiet, sure, but just delightful. I still have a number of polaroids of he and I acting out that part in Doctor Strangelove when they bring out the bomb and that scientists says all that stuff and then the Russian guy's there. I'm aware it doesn't seem that funny here, but if you saw these polaroids you would be broken up. I'm chuckling just thinking about it. Related: did not know he was British.
