That steam turbine is really noisy. Love the locomotive, though. Nice work guys.

Crazy it looks this amazing, brand spanking new! Whilst I'm sure itll make it's way to Chama or Durango, I sure hope they can truck it to Dolores and or Ridgeway for a short visit, even though they dont have much track it would be nice. Well, anyway I'm sure they have something in mind!

The fact that starting a loco is the same as starting a coal forge is a total meme ps: rgs 20 is my favorite looking locomotive at the crrm

Beautiful, absolutely beautiful. Giant Kudos to all involved. I first went to the CRRM in 1959 and always marveled at RGS 20 learning it's history. Never did I ever think it would steam again. Never say never, right? Again thanks to all and thanks for posting.

In case anyone is interested, this locomotive is THE locomotive that starred in the 1950 American Western film TICKET TO TOMAHAWK as the locomotive "Emma Sweeny" Here is the link to the movie if you wish to see kzitem.info/news/bejne/uo6CqqFskGZnnqA It's good to see this engine in action again

This locomotive should visit the cumber and Toltec railroad where it can meet fellow early rio grande locomotive like 168 and 315 maybe a triple header

Do narrow gauge steam locomotives take a shorter amount of time to fire up than standard gauge steam locomotives?
@johnmeixel9928
4 жыл бұрын
I honestly don't know but I would guess so since their boilers are smaller.
@pubbarian

I would imagine it's roughly the same. Smaller boiler yes, but also smaller fire box to heat it. In the case of 491 it is a standard gauge boiler and fire box just mounted on a narrow gauge frame and running gear.

The damage was from its time working on the RGS. The museum will not repair it because they want to preserve its history.

I watched two guys turn that engine. Is the round table that well balanced?
@johnmeixel9928
4 жыл бұрын
Yes it's balanced when the engineer moves the engine to make it balanced. In the video you can see him move it a little a few times to balance it.

Apparently (look up the channel of Hyce) they can turn that 50 ton heavy turntable and 150 tons of K37 loco (D&RGW n° 491) with only one person if the train is perfectly balenced
