Would the Intouch integrated trout Spey (scandi) line in 350 gr be appropriate for fishing for atlantic salmon on a shorter (10.5 feet) switch rod to avoid all the loop to loop connections? Thanks!

For single hand rods... is there a noticable difference in performancd of the Scandi style trout spey head then your single hand spey line? Will the trout spey head cast versileader better?

Hey Jon, so sorry we missed this question - most embarrassing! To be honest, the SHS line is a much better choice for a single handed rod if you want a full integrated line. The best use of this head system is if you are changing flies and techniques a lot. You put on the Scandi head with a tapered leader for small soft hackles and light streamers, and then switch to the Skagit version for sinking tips and heavily weighted streamers. That is the flexibility of the shooting head system. The SHS line is not great for casting heavy and large flies, so if that is your choice, the Skagit trout Spey would be an eye opener!

Would this line work on single handed rod, casting 1 inch tubes?
@RIOPRODUCTS

It should have zero problem with that, though it depends on the material the tube is made of. If plastic, the regular InTouch Trout Spey head will do that easily, but if brass, you'd need to go to the Skagit trout Spey version. As recommended in the video, make sure you follow the rule of 3, so put a 2wt, on a 5wt single handed rod.

@@RIOPRODUCTS amazing, thank you for getting back to me. I fish for atlantic salmon over in scotland, very small river. Been struggling to find a single hand fly line that turns over small brass tubes. Thanks again. Will get this line set up for next season. Cheers

There is something not clear to me, the trout spey is pratically the rio scandi body shorter of 1 ft, but on your site the rio scandi body 305gr is suggested for a 6 wt, the trout spey 305 gr is suggested for a 4 wt..... A huge difference...

The 6wt Scandi body is needs to have 10ft tips added - either light MOW tips, weighing 80 grains, or replacement tips that weigh 70 grains, so the added weight of those tips will bring the total head weight up to close to 390gr, which is ideal for a 6wt. The Trout Spey can be fished with a normal 9ft tapered leader, adding no weight, or a light trout VersiLeader. I hope that helps...

What’s the difference between a switchchucker and the trout Spey? Seems li they’re the same.
@RIOPRODUCTS

The Trout Spey series is a Scandi style integrated line, so good for presentation and casting nice loops, where as the Chucker has a more aggressive taper and designed for casting indicators, sink tips and largerflies. The Chucker is closer to the InTouch Skagit Trout Spey line, except the head length of the Chucker is 25ft long, which is about twice the length of the Skagit. This means the Skagit is better in really tight situations and for the biggest flies and tips, and the Chucker more of an in-betweener of the Scandi and Skagit type lines. Hopefully that makes some kind of sense...
