A documentary relating to Ribe VikingeCenter's docudrama series RIPA.
Coloured glass beads were very popular pieces of jewelry. In the 9th century, women typically wore a strap dress. The strap was fastened at the front with a brooch, and between the brooches was a string or more of beads made of e.g. glass or amber. It was a symbol of status.
