There should be more film noirs, this one was an incredible example how color sometimes ruins the movie experience

I’m sure it’s been asked before? I haven’t seen any interviews with Director. I felt this film had a lot spiritually with Barry Lyndon and Kubrick. Barry Lyndon was a Gainsborough in every scene. Light was key. This was Caravaggio. Light was key. Both antihero stories. Even the music. In one scene where Ripley is fleeing in a station the chords were similar to Schubert Piano Trio No2.
