They are remarkable people, generous and kind with a unique philosophy. Their langars are famous. Went to one in Australia. Praying to God to protect the Farmers and give them success.

9th Guru Hargobind was executed for standing up for Hindu rights. Hindu pandits approached him for help against conversions. He went to Mughal court and said ‘if you can convert me, then hindus will follow’. They tortured him and beheaded him. He never gave in 💙

4:45 - the 9th Guru was in his home in Punjab and he was visited my peasant Hinduis pleading for help as the Mughal Empire were converting Hindus into Muslims, So, the 9th Guru went to Delhi (India Capital) and tried to stopped the Muslims from forcing their faith into Hindus. The thing was the 9th Guru, was told if you want to save these people you have to convert to Islam, but as you know he refused. So they caged him up and killed his 2 friends. 1. Cutting him in half 2. Wrapping wool around him and setting him on fire. The Mughal Emprie thought this would scare the 9th Guru and he will convert to a Islam. But, the Guru never did and so out of anger he beheaded the 9th Guru for trying to help the Hindus. So, his son Guru Gobhind Singh was 9 years old and he had to build the Khalasa to stop evil from spreading the world.

God!! we missed alot. Maharaj Ranjit Singhs and sikh empire’s rise and decline is having great history, from gathering the whole bunch of small leaders(of small) region to making Lahore as capital and the decline brings tears to our eyes how can be that wrong happen with someone..( death of Shere Punjab Maharaja Ranjit Singh, killing his sons(prince) and the bringing of Duleep Singh(Ranjit Singh’s son to London giving him a british look and lifestyle instead of Sikh always badly hurts our heart😞 the thing was that Maharaja Duleep Singh always lived in a misunderstanding that prophecy was made by god that he will go back to Panjab and will lead the empire again will become the Next Maharaja and will fight against British empire(East India Company) but the bitter reality was that Queen Victoria never allowed him to go to Panjab, he tried a lot but in whole life never went to Panjab!!! We can’t even imagine how much it can hurt that you can’t go back to your motherland, you can never have your motherlands soil on your head😕that’s why he was also Called The Black Prince by Queen Victoria!! very hurtful

Actually till fifth Guru Arjan Dev Sikhism existed as religion of saints and was peaceful because there was no oppression. But after 5 th Guru was executed the 6 th Guru hargobind singh ji picked up two swords called Miri and piri and made Sikhism as blend of Saint and warrior. From here wars would began. At the same time in Southern part Marathas under Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj started rebellion . By the time 10 th Guru came the mughal king Aurangzeb was the cruelest and intolerant. At that time he was challenged by just two forces one by marathas and in north by Sikhs. He died hoping to crush these two but didn't succeeded. After this sikh empire was formed by ending afghan invasion problem

Aurangzeb was Mugal King of India and was forcefully converting everyone to Islam. Kashmiri Hindu Pandit reached out to Guru Teg Bahadur Ji for help. After seeing the pain these Hindu preists are going through...Guru Teg Bahadur challenged Aurengzeb that if he can convert him to Islam then all of them will follow the lead but if he fails then Aurangzeb won't forcefully convert Hindu preists to Islam. At this point Auranjeb accepted the challenge and eventually Guru Teg Bahadur Ji sacrificed his life for saving people from oppression. That why he is also known as 'Hind di chadar' which means that saviour of Hindus.

This 7 min video teaches more about Punjab than our whole K-12 schooling ever did. It's a shame that we never got to learn much about the most critical part of India in our essential history education. But we had to learn about Mughals bleh. P.S. Punjab is critical because it's the passage into the Indian subcontinent. Be it Afghans or Persians, Punjab was the entry into India and that's why it had to face a lot. Then British, who entered India from the southern side had to expand their rule till what's modern day Pakistan, and once again Punjab stood in between. So yea thats about it.

@K Singh, Just adding to your comment to take it beyond corporeal boundaries to universal application. 1. Raj Bina Dharam Nehi Chale, Bina Dharam Sab Dale Male... This sovereignty is not limited to corporality of land and bodies, it is spiritual- right to practice one's faith and resolve as they deem fit without encroaching another's rights. Guru Nanak denouncing janju (caste based thread sacrament) and Guru Teg Bahadurji challenging Mughal Emperor to try proselytize him are the examples of this sovereignty. 2. Koi Kisee Ko Raj Na Dhehey, Jo Lay Nijbal Se Le hai... None gives sovereignty to another, one has to beget it through personal resolve (nijbal) of spirit. Shielding oneself and one's ideals in the age of propaganda and fake news this becomes even more vital. 3. Tayaar bar Tayaar... The resolve of spirit only manifests in a healthy body that can protect and itself and the defenseless. Be prepared and ready to defend your ideals and spirit because one can also save themselves by keeping quite to injustice and hiding. Guru Nanak - Religion is high, higher still is truthful living. The religion here is discipline not (religions- Sikhism, Islam, Hinduism.. etc) Higher still is truthful living... Truthful living is a disciplined living of Kirat Karna (making honest living), Naam Japna (contemplating on one's connection with the divine not just sitting and chanting word(s) or shabads) and Wand Chhakna (sharing one's honest earnings with community). These three words meets a person's essential needs of corporal existence (sustenance), social connection (to maintain social order by serving humanity) and abstract need of mind to seek purpose and connection within the universal scheme of things.

In 1800-1900 Gurudwaras were encroached by hindu priests. You really need a lesson in history. @Aditya Bhardwaj, Bhai Mati Das te Bhai Sati Das, Bhai Dayala ji oh sab Guru de Sikh san na ki hindu. Our 9th Guru was martyred by The Mughals as our Guru came for the Religious Rights of the Hindus and Sikhs who were being forcefully could converted by the Mughals so the Guru said if you guys are successful in converting me everyone else converts but obviously he was a Saint and A Man of God . Aurangzeb finally told him to either convert or show a miracle ,guess what he chose ,yup,he chose martyrdom and he was beheaded but saved so many people from forced conversions.

The Inside Reality of Maharaja Ranjit Singh Empire!! which No One Gonna tell you.. Afghans, had been launching repeated raids into Punjab and Delhi. To check this Ranjit Singh decided to build a modern and powerful army with the employment of Top Muslims Generals at That Time, and aslo Frenchmen, Italians, Greeks, Russians, Germans and Austrians, Their name is(1) Jarnail Oms,(2) Jarnail Alexender Gardner,(3)Jarnai Joshiah harnal,(4)Jarnail Honignberger,(5)Kolonel Henery Stienbach,(6) Jarnail Charles van Cordant,(7) Jarnail Jean bapist Ventura,(8) Jarnail Claude Augustus Courte and two of Them Jarnail Jean-Francoise Allard, Jarnail Pablo Di Avitable had served under Napoleon. Says historian Shiv Kumar Gupta: “All these officers were basically engaged by Ranjit Singh for modernisation of his troops and Arms against Afghans. Muslims Generals in Maharaja Ranjit Singh Army Names: (1)Jarnail Ghaus Khan(died 1814) also Known as Mian Ghausa was a punjabi Muslim who served as an Artillery Officer of the Sukerhakia Misl of Mahraja Ranjit Singh. (2)Jarnail Sultan Mahmood Khan(Died 1859) He was a Commander of Khalsa Army (Sarkar e Khalsa) his Derah Of artillery was Designated as TopKhana. he regarded as one of the best Commanding Officer at sikh khalsa fauj. (3)Jarnail Ilahi Baksh(Died 1849) he was a Arain Punjabi Muslim he served over forty years at Sikh Khalsa fauj and regarded as best artillery officer. Other Muslims Generals Names:(4) Jarnail Imam Shah, (5)Mazhar ali,(6) Imam Shah Zufar,(7) naziruddin Ilahi,(8) Fakir Azizudin,(9) Ghause Khan,(10) Imam Ali Shah {if any one have doubt then he/she can check it on* The List of Generals Of Maharaja Ranjit Sing*} The army under Ranjit Singh was not limited to the Sikh community. The soldiers and troop officers included Sikhs, but also included Hindus, Muslims and Europeans.Hindu Brahmins and people of all creeds and castes served his army, while the composition in his government also reflected a religious diversity. His army included Polish, Russian, Spanish, Prussian and French officers. In 1835, as his relationship with the British warmed up, he hired a British officer named Foulkes. However, the Khalsa army of Ranjit Singh reflected regional population, and as he grew his army, he dramatically increased the Rajput and Jat sikhs to his army. In the Doaba region his army was composed of the Jat Sikhs, in Jammu and northern Indian hills it was Hindu Rajputs, while relatively more Muslims served his army in the Jhelum river area closer to Afghanistan than other major Punjab rivers. and the claim That Maharaja Ranjit Singh Ruled Afghanistan?? This is a big Lie!! But! Though, they did not, bit they did captured some area of pushtons, then belonged to Afghanistan from where Afganistan begins, means Border Areas. How did it happened? During the time Afghanistan was in serious internal conflicts and fighting over the crown was a daily routine. The Maharaj Ranjit Singh army with the help of British East India Company,{(after the treaty of Amritsar April25, 1809. Pact concluded between Charles T. Metcalfe Represnting The British East India Company and Ranjit Singh Head of The Sikh Kingdom of Punjab. The Treaty setteled Indo-Sikh Relation for a genration)} attacked the western parts and captured it. and The weapons used by Ranjit Singh Army was most advanced and the fire power was great. They were not fighting with all Afganistan. it was small tribes of Afghan people who were fighting with Britshers and Sikh Empire for Peshawar. Despite having a great central army, the government of the time was so busy in internal conflicts that they didn’t care to even support the state government. This lead to the separation of the Peshawar from Afghanistan, and a 100 year lease contract of the area was signed later by the ruler of Afghanistan with the British...

The first martyr was Guru Arjan Dev (5th Guru) because the kings wanted him to add references from the Holy Quran Sri Guru Granth Sahib(Sikh scripture, Last Guru), But he didn't he felt that was not the that with their teachings of equally and Sikhi philosophy, as Guru Arjan Dev Ji, the fifth Guru of the Sikhs, was the embodiment of Godly devotion, Selfless Service and Universal Love. On 16 June 1606, the Mughal Emperor Jahangir ordered that Guru Arjan Dev Ji, the fifth Sikh Guru be tortured and sentenced to death after the Guru had refused to stop preaching his message of God as started by Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The Guru was made to sit on a burning hot sheet while boiling hot sand was poured over his body. After enduring five days of unrelenting torture, Guru Arjan Dev Ji was taken for a bath in the river. As thousands watched he entered the river, never to be seen again. Every year on 16th June since 1606, the Sikhs commemorate the martyrdom of Guru Arjan Dev Ji by giving cold drinks, ice creams sweet milkshake at every gurdwara or even on the streets across the world, in remembrances of the fifth Guru and the first Sikh Martyr. Before the arrest, torture, and martyrdom of Guru Arjan Dev, the Sikhs had nothing to do with weapons or violence, as all the Sikh Gurus had taught the message of compassion, love, dedication, hard work, worship of one God, and the commitment to peace and harmony for all the peoples of the world.

Maharaj Ranjit Singh son, (Maharaj Duleep Singh ) was taken to England to Queen Victoria where he was not allowed to return back to his kingdom in Punjab, he had 3 daughters whoever the most well known is Princess Sophia Duleep Singh who her royal privileges, given to her as she was the Goddaughter of Queen Victoria of England, to give women the right to vote part of the suffragette movement. Mainly the women in England have the right to vote today, this is never taught in British schools or mentioned in media still to this day, but its facts and part of history.
