I get more than I bargain for with a plucky Korean outfit that pushed me to my limits.
Didn't think nuclear missiles were allowed, just cruise missiles but boy was I surprised when they dropped one on me and my city was gone in an instant.
Having the Koreans drop 9 nukes on me while pushing me on several fronts made me determined with solid iron commitment to win this scenario. I was pissed off, to put it mildly.
Nevertheless, I hung in there, dug deep and didn't really turn things around until the last missile had been launched, which meant I could finally sort out my economy, and therefore get my military sorted. Market coming in clutch for in this scenario.
Once that happened, I went on the offensive and I had never been so eager to rip the AI to shreds.
I did a lot of things wrong defensively in that game: (In no particular order)
Poor city placements
Training troops too late
Taking fights when I should delay fights instead with hit and run tactics.
Not getting an airbase quick enough
I also learnt trading at the market is banned for a brief period after you drop a nuke.
The AI didn't decide to attack me after that, so I decided to show the scenario 'Field Battle'. In this scenario, there are two barracks I must destroy, and my army is of a similar strength to my enemy.
You can do this multiple ways; either rush the barracks and ignore the troops, you can use ambush or forced march to gain ground and be sneaky or quick, or you can have a few troops act as decoys while the rest move onto the encampments. I like it, it's a bit like a puzzle. But really the AI should keep its troops near the encampment, forcing me to take the offensive.
