I have 3-4 years of experience with RN and all of this almost feels like a new language to me... Cool video as always and sick animations!

The quality of the video is amazing, are you still using remotion to create the video?
@wcandillon
Жыл бұрын
It's all in Remotion, and the code is written using React Native Skia so I can move code around from the native to remotion. Thanks for the kind words! Now that the video is done, I see some mistakes in the visual explanation 🙈.
@DanielA-wc6nh

@@wcandillon I find the possibilities offered by Remotion impressive. It would be interesting if you could release the code of some video to know how to achieve this kind of result. I did not notice the mistakes still great job with all the effort put in

Hey, William! Masterfully crafted content, as always. I have a quick question. I'm starting to explore Skia myself and was wondering: nowadays, if you were to choose between RNGH + Reanimated + React Native regular s versus Skia to build something like the Duolingo drag-and-drop functionality, demonstrated in a previous entry of this series, which would you choose? Is it correct to think that every UI that relies heavily on animations should be built with Skia in order to achieve better performance? Even when not taking advantage of things such as as shaders, blurs and shadows? Thanks so much for the content and for being an inspiration. Peace and happiness from South America to beautiful Switzerland 😆

I've been watching video after video and it seems like the answer keeps being yes. Do you sometimes release videos where something can't be done in react native?
@wcandillon
Жыл бұрын
Sometimes, this is what led to the development of React Native Skia, a lot of challenges were due to limitations in building advanced 2d graphics.

I don't understand the calculation of the points p1 and p2 when the distance is smaller than the radius of the circle. Aren't the coordinates should be (d, xy.y)?
@wcandillon
Жыл бұрын
That's a great question sorry that the visual explanation is not showing this more clearly. p1 and p2 are the points on the image if it was flat (unfolded). If you map p1 and p2 to the flat image (which the visual explanation should/could have shown), you would see that they were at very different positions. If p2 is outside the image (too far away), we display p1. And we need to add x to the length of the arc circle (which we forgot in the explanation but the code shows). I hope this help.
