People of all ages, races, socioeconomic status, and various other demographic categories were completely taken aback, in not having any idea the severity this could turn out to be. Not to mention how many basically "false alarms" most of the state more inland tend to have when it comes to storms throughout the year...where people do run out and overly prepare, only for it to end up being practically nothing. Many didn't expect this to be anywhere NEAR the _something_... it turned out to be. Give grace, especially for that which you don't know and people you don't know.
