Whitewater rafting down the Zambezi river between Livingstone, Zambia and Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.
This is video footage from the travel company. If I remember their name, I'll add it later. I wanted to bring my Go-Pro strapped to my wrist, but really wanted it available for the bungee-jumping later in the day and played it safe, leaving it in the dry bag. Next time it'll be there.
Since I was doing the bungee-jump from the bridge later in the day, I only did the half day of river rafting, which was 9 of the first 10 rapids on the river. The undone one, #9 a.k.a. Commercial Suicide, is a class 6, and only the most skilled and careless rafters and kayakers go through that one. Even our rafting guide won't go through anymore. Having done it 5 or 6 times in his youth 20 years ago, he doesn't feel the need to risk anything. They (the rafting guide trainees) send the raft through those rapids on it's own. The other guest, Yolanda, solo-traveling also because her friends didn't have this on their bucket list and stayed at the hotel, did sign up for the full day tour of all 25 rapids, minus #9.
All this during the low season. During the high season, river level is so much higher.
I've been through a lot of hellish uphill climbs and hikes in my time. And the hike up the gorge from the river to the top is among the top 5. Over 60 degrees steep incline, with only sticks nailed together for steps. Uf Duh with an Oi Vey!
