That’s so cool. I love that they preserve and provide information on the structures so we can get a glimpse into the past. Nice little hike, hope you’re counting those steps😊

The Mexican Ditch Trail is one of the longest, easiest trails in Carson City. The path stretches about 4 miles from the Moffat Space Open Property to the Mexican Dam on the Carson River. The northern half is in a residential area, and the southern half is rural and more natural. The Mexican Ditch is an irrigation waterway created for Silver Saddle Ranch. This historic area now serves as one of Carson’s favorite recreation spots. It’s accessible year-round, although it may be a bit muddy after rain or snow. The popular attraction on this trail is the end: the Mexican Dam. This spot along the Carson River is peaceful and away from civilization. The running water drowns out most other noises and there’s plenty of space to find a place to hang out for a break.

Located at the very east-end of Fifth Street, Riverview Park is a 109 acre natural scenic park, with wetlands and a network of trails which extend to the banks of the Carson River and connect with the Mexican Ditch and Empire Ranch Trails. Many paved trails traverse the area, including a 1.6 mile course and an additional 0.4 mile nature trail, making this a perfect venue for Walk/Run Events. Dogs: Dogs are allowed off leash during all park hours but are not allowed in the wetland areas and must be under adequate control of their owners at all times.

Did you find the old cars? There are 3 old cars and a truck near the river at the end towards the golf course. Just passed the geocache
