Great review, that truck sure has a lot of features! Air compressor and the auto bed cover is great. Maybe in the future they can find a way to access the cab from inside the truck bed! That'd be awesome for camping.

My only complaint of the R1T is the paint job. Some of the colors look really dull, doesn't have that stand out glossy paint job that you see on other vehicles. Hope, Rivian improve the paint and add more color options.

Another great review, Lorraine. Nice touch wearing utility pants for the review. Overall, Rivian did a great job on the first generation R1T. I think both the exterior and interior look good, and I really like the flat bottom steering wheel. However, I don’t see what makes the R1T truck an “Adventure Vehicle ”. It would be one thing if the truck came with the camp kitchen, or the tent, or at least some cargo mounts. But it doesn’t. The Rivian doesn’t come with any “adventure”for a truck that costs $67,500 for a bone stock model. The towing capacity is 11,000 pounds. I don’t know what the pay load capacity is on the truck, but I don’t see anyone purchasing an electric truck to tow a small toy hauler, or a travel trailer for long distance trips. I can’t imagine the range you would get driving uphill, or into a head wind. Never mind having to stop somewhere to charge while hooked up. The air suspension is cool, but I’m surprised that the truck doesn’t come with side steps, or a handle on the a-pillar to make getting in and out of the truck much easier when the suspension is at its max height setting. The off roading specs are pretty decent and are fine for light trails, but not for rock crawling, mudding, etc in my opinion. The truck weighs 7,000 - 8,000 pounds. It’s not really ideal for off-roading. You would have to add a full size spare, winch, lifting jack, skid plates, lockers(not sure if possible), and other gear to properly go off-roading. If I was in the market for an electric truck, I would go for the F150 lighting. You get more truck for almost the exact same price including super cruise. If I was in the market for an off-road vehicle that is fast, can rock crawl and do do some serious off-roading, I would buy the Ford Bronco Raptor for the same price(ice version). I know Ford plans to release an all electric version in the future. The R1T is like a new Range Rover, a Land Cruiser, or even a Jeep Rubicon or Sahara. They are off road vehicles, but most people don’t take them off the pavement, especially for what they cost. Understandingly so. TL;DR: cool truck but the R1T is a jack of all trades, master of none so to speak.

one huge downfall to Evs as i see it is the proprietary charging networks. Gasoline vehicles dont have the problem of what gas station you can and cant fill at. The industry should work on a standard....It is confusing
@TheEvilmooseofdoom

Part of the problem was all the different charging rates early EV's employed, but I agree 100% it's past the time for a standard.

If you can get your hands on an R1T do not sell it for another 2-3yrs because that is how long it will take Rivian to ramp production. This is because of the chip shortages and other supply shortages and delays in supply chains. Also huge inflation in batter cell prices. So the key is all EV produces are under these conditions but some are able to mitigate this better than others. No sure Rivian will, I hope they do since I think the R1T is very credible and will be high in demand. We need to get off fossil fuels ASAP and the gas guzzling US Truck market is an ideal market to attack. My only concern is the measly Rivian charging network for popular off roading, camping cites and beaches across the USA.

Why do people blur out license plate numbers? It makes no sense because everyone can see it when they are driving it. And the word "button", is pronounced "But-tons" not "Buh-ons". Would you pronounce "Tom" as "Uhm"? If Rivian fixes the front end so it doesn't look like a cartoon robot, then I'll buy one.
