Yeah, this one can be pretty complex if you want it to be. Or you can just smash a minor pentatonic over the whole thing like Stevie Ray does!

@@nowyoushred watch him play it live. He learned his improv parts. They recorded the entire song as a jam, the keyboard solo wasn’t planned and neither was any of it. The song was just improv. He didn’t think in scales and theory. He just played the ways he knew how and from emotions. It was something we still haven’t seen done as well by anyone else. To think he is just slapping pentatonic scales up isn’t true at all, and a lot of it isn’t minor, it is the blues scale mixed in with whatever his licks were and they worked. He just knew from so much practice and time with the instrument his ear and soul were in tune.

@@mitchellmanning8689 if you break his licks from the song down they do stem from the minor pent, which there is nothing wrong with. He made it sound like a different scale entirely

@@coconuts1483 It’s one of the things about him I just can’t get over, he takes something so theoretically simple and makes it basically impossible. It was just true art, he probably did know more theory than he gave himself credit for.

+Thunder Death 2 Keep it simple with the Eb minor Pentatonic! Or tune your axe to Eb and play in the people's key of E Minor!

+Now You Shred Jam Tracks Online question, I know the natural minor scale (aeolian) can just add the notes in from that ,without trying to turn it into a differnt mode

Remember modes have arpeggios in them. Don’t learn modes by shape only. It’s all related. Your learning correctly though good attitude.
