It’s incredible that when Rick Mercer is around other east coasters his accent just sky rockets. I love it. Television will be a sadder place without you Rick Mercer

Born and raised in Vancouver, B.C., I have never had the opportunity to get back East and see the Maritimes. This big Country has some beautiful places and the people of the Maritimes have always been the salt of the Earth. I want to get back there one day to check it out!

Men who work the sea are a tough lot indeed especially the fishermen up north. Greetings from the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland USA. We here still feel bad about the War of 1812. Cheers and beers.

My father used to take me to Petty Harbour fishing with a guy named Billy Leaman back in the 70's. A lot of fun cod jigging and gill netting. Jigger back in that day used to hit the fish on the head on the way down. Drop it and pull...boom fish on every time. I pulled many tongues and sold them door to door back in St. John's. Memories!!!

What it comes down to is that Newfoundland&Labrador voted Liberal in the last election and Nova Scotia has Peter MacKay, so Harper thinks the only two places that exist in the Maritimes are Nova Scotia and PEI. And they rest of them can go and kiss a cod.

If he's a fisherman he probably makes his living from other fish such as Herring, Shrimp, Capelin and so on. This is just a fishery that opens for a few weeks every year, so that people can fish food food, it's not a commercial fishery.
